    Spectacular views
Terrasse Dufferin offers some spectacular views. We walked all around this area and spent there the best part of a day. Quebec is a beautiful city and the views of the old city and the river from here are just amazing. While here we also visited the incredibly beautiful Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. Not to be missed.

Great place to have a stroll
A great place to relax in the sun or in the shade with great views over the water and the Lower town. You can take the funicular from here (right near the statue, located in the glass house) to reach the Lower town, or you can wall all the way to the Citadel (the entrance is on the opposite site though, if you want to visit it). Lots of information about the origins of the terrace and several musicians to entertain you. A very romantic place, if you like history and it reminds me of so many historic European cities. To one side, there are several hotels, some older than others, with probably bird eye view over this whole location.

    Must visit place
It is amazing place from where you can see Lower town, river or take a ride on funicular or see the Citadel. There are several information panels about the history related to its past and preservation. And it's overlooked by stunning Chateau Frontenac. We walked a couple times through it, enjoying the views, talking to local lady who advised what to see/visit in the city. If you are tired there are plenty benches to sit and have a rest. There is also small cafe/ice cream shop. At the end of it you can find tobogan for winter adrenalin seekers. It's must visit place when in the city.

Beautiful vantage point plus Parks tour of crypt
We ended up here several times and took the paid tour located at the kiosk of the crypt below. Tour guide was very informative. Take the guided tour if you are in the area. Very interesting tour. Beautiful place to take in the views and get some shade under the many gazebos.

The One Experience You Should Not Miss in Quebec City
This is the don't-miss experience of Quebec City! Enjoy views of the St. Lawrence River with mountains in the distance, with the gorgeous and enormous Chateau Frontenac looming just above you. Look down to Basse-Ville under the cliff and look up to higher parts on the cliff including Pierre-Dugua-de-Mons Terrace (which is worth the uphill walk from Dufferin). Step into the Frontenac to see it inside, and enjoy the street performers along the terrace. Take the funicular or stairs down to the charming Basse-Ville (Lower Town), or walk up to higher viewpoints and the Citadelle, or round the corner to enjoy the restaurants and artisans of Haute-Ville (Upper Town).

lovely promenade at the foot of the Chateau Frontenac
The Terrasse Dufferin is the wide promenade at the foot of the Chateau Frontenac. More than 200 years old, the terrace of wooden benches connects the upper town with the historic battlefields on the edge of the old town, where the English and French fought bitterly for supremacy in the New World. Several old cannons from this period still line the promenade. From up here, you have a breathtaking view over the lower town and the majestic Saint Lawrence River, which flows below the city.

This elevated vantage was the original site of Fort St.-Louis, the governor's residence in colonial times.
Overlooking Old Québec from its perch just below the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, Terrasse Dufferin offers spectacular views of the St. Lawrence River and ofcourse, the magnificent Frontenac hotel. This elevated vantage was the original site of Fort St.-Louis, the governor's residence in colonial times. Tourists can see the ruins underneath the promenade. we were here on a weekday so faced a little crowd and it was soothing to walk on the terrace offering a great view. Formerly a military fortification, this public boardwalk still houses historic cannons. if you visit during the summer – you're bound to run into street performers and artists as you stroll along. The terrace provides incredible views over the Lower Town and the River and often hosts street musicians and other performers. Beneath the terrace, and partially viewable from viewing points are the remains of Chateau Saint-Louis, which was the offices of the French and British governors from the 17th through the 19th centuries. Dufferin Terrace is the perfect spot to take beautiful pictures. It is also here you can board the funicular that will take you down to rue du Petit-Champlain in Lower Town. The Dufferin Terrace is a great place to watch summertime fireworks displays.

In the shadow of Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac, magnificent walking area.
We were in Quebec City Wednesday & Thursday, August 7-8, 2024. The peak of tourist season, yet Terasse Dufferin remained nearly deserted. Most tourists walk through here at some point, but most rarely linger or sit to admire the beauty that surrounds it, or to learn the history of this spot. It is the original site of Fort St. Louis built in 1620. Much of the history and artifacts still remain (and can be visited) beneath the Terasse. On top the terrasse you are treated to spectacular views of the St. Lawrence River below. Catch the Funicular here to get to the lower city or just sit on one of the benches to watch people go by in front of the magnificent Hotel Frontenac building. Often one will hear music or song from a street performer here as we did. If you can, spend some moments here to enjoy the scenery or reflect on the history of this spot.

Great for a Stroll, But Not Much Activity on the Terrace
We didn't spend a lot of time on the Terrace when we were there earlier in September. It was a pleasant stretch of walkway to stroll, but there was nothing happening. Based on other reviews it does sound like the Terrace does have interesting events happening but nothing happened in the 3 days while we were staying at the Chateau.

Designed by Eugène-Étienne Taché, the Parliament Building is a monument to the glory of the women and men who marked the history of Québec and French America. Built between 1877 and 1886 in the architectural style of the Second Empire and inspired by the expansion of the Louvre in Paris, this unique structure was recognized as a Québec national historic monument in 1985. Its architecture and rich ornamentation illustrate the words engraved above the main entrance, “Je me souviens” (I remember), which later became Québec’s motto. Many species of trees, shrubs and plants representative of the wide variety of flora native to Québec can be observed when walking around the gardens surrounding the Parliament Building.
