Rue du Petit-Champlain and Rue Champlain
We went to the Quartier du Petit-Champlain in the evening on December 30, 2023 as well as in February 2024. Even if there was no snow on December 30, 2023, the numerous decorations made us somewhat forget this detail. In the Petit-Champlain district, you can observe three staircases: the Casse-Cou staircase, the Quai-du-Roi staircase and the C-de-Sac staircase. Our starting point for the day in February 2024 was to descend the 398 steps of the Cap Blanc staircase, to follow the St. Lawrence River via Champlain Street and to end our walk in the Quartier du Petit Champlain. Rue Champlain (Cap-Blanc) is a street with several old houses that date from the time of the Irish neighborhood. The imposing Cap aux Diamants, called Cap Blanc in winter, means that it is on this street that the sun sets the earliest. So, I suggest you take the short journey from the Cap-Blanc staircase. After Champlain Street, you will walk along a short stretch of Champlain Boulevard to finish your hike on Rue du Petit-Champlain located in Old Quebec. This magnificent emblematic street is pedestrianized. There you will find several shops, restaurants as well as several staircases to directly access Champlain Boulevard. Narrow stairs are inserted between old houses. The prettiest is the one topped by a wrought iron arch with a magnificent view of the Château Frontenac. This staircase was rebuilt at the end of the 19th century. Félix-Leclerc Park, for its part, is a gathering place beautifully designed according to the themes of the season. From the Petit-Champlain district, it is easy to get to Place Royale and the Notre-Dame des Victoires church built in 1688. Don't miss out on seeing the small Unesco park, the fresco of Quebecois and the Royal Battery.

    Picturesque Street
One of the most photogenic streets in Québec City was filled with shops and restaurants. In April there wasn’t much crowds so it was pleasant to stroll through. There were a couple of unique addresses ending in 1/2 instead of a whole number. We could not figure out how one door qualified as a 1/2 versus others.

    Beautiful Spot
Walked in the Petit Champlain lately. This street is very cute, there are different shops around to visit, a few restaurant. The atmosphere is just wonderful. I strongly suggest you go up the stairs and stop by a restaurant on the stairs location to have a wonderful view. You will not regret!

the Quartier Petit Champlain is arguably the most beautiful area of the city
Once the bustling capital of New France, the Quartier Petit Champlain is arguably the most beautiful area of the city. Wandering the narrow streets that are laced between the historic buildings makes you feel like you are in the heart of an old European City. The Quartier Petit Champlain is the oldest shopping district in North America and a great place to buy souvenirs for your friends. Here, boutique shops and cozy cafes spill out of restored houses. A fun fact: One of the neighborhood's houses belonged to Louis Jolliet, the French-Canadian explorer credited with discovering the Mississippi River. The stone structures that line the pedestrian-only streets now house a wide variety of shops, services, and restaurants. This is the perfect place to visit for strolling and meandering, and it's a truly lovely area year-round. Québec-cuisine restaurants and bistros, art galleries, and a generous assortment of sweets shops offering everything from handcrafted fudge and nougat to a stylish Crêperie Restroom: Ask anyone and they can point you in the right direction, its 1 level down on the main road level. What a relief finding one when you need it

    Old World Charm
Our family of 5, all adults, visited Quebec City last month. Rue du Petit-Champlain is a must see street. Amazing architecture , murals, art, restaurants, and shopping. Our family walked through neighborhoods and down the sloped sidewalks to reach the Lower Town and then road the Funiculaire de Vieux back up to Dufferin Terrace.

    Cool
Although a tourist, the Petit Champlain district is a must-see in Quebec City, which is the oldest city in North America, founded in 1608. Take advantage of it to visit Notre Dame des Victoires church, a church that is directly in little Champlain. I love going.

One of the oldest streets in lower town.
We spent 24 hours in Quebec City, soaked up the history, walked the cobblestone streets and admired the architecture. This is near the location of where you catch the funicular to the top of the walled city. If you go early in the day as we did like before 10AM, you will avoid the hoards of tourists and crowded streets. At this time the streets are still nearly empty and the walking is much more pleasant.

    Charming street
This is very popular street in Old Québec’s lower town. Be prepared that is full of tourists, and I mean really full. We liked the old houses, its architecture. Nearly all have a shop or restaurant or cafe. It was nice to see it.

    Gorgeous Place in Quebec
The influence of French culture is prominently displayed in Place Royale and along Rue du Petit-Champlain. The narrow streets winding through the historic buildings create an ambiance reminiscent of an old European city. This area is known as the oldest shopping district in North America. Rue du Petit-Champlain is home to charming boutiques, souvenir shops, art galleries, bistros, cafes, and inviting restaurants that exude a French ambiance. Quartier Petit Champlain is widely regarded as the most picturesque area of the city, making it a must-visit destination in Quebec.

    Holiday perfection brought to life.
Holiday perfection brought to life. This street/area isn't very long, however, it's is decorated like the blue print to how holiday decorating should be. Plenty of shops and spots to grab local food and drinks. You have to experience this area at night.
