The museum deals mainly with indigenous and gold rush issues and is quite fascinating. We had an excellent tour guide who told us more than we ever thought we would know about Yukon history. The museum also includes the only building to survive a town fire, still in its original spot. Definitely worth a couple of hours to see.

Large, well curated museum, there is much to see. Covering the entirety of Yukon history, you can easily spend 3 hours here. History. Nature. Mining. First Nations. Lots of clean toilets. More impressive than imagined. Family friendly

We only had two hours and it was not enough! So much interesting history in Whitehorse. Not just the history but a lot about the area and surrounding ecosystem, great displays, easy to read and follow. Really enjoyed this Museum. Especially the animal display and the old methods of transportations display. Looks like an original sno-machine prototype, very cool to see this stuff. I wish we had more time.

First of all, it’s not closed even though Trip Advisor says it is. You can visit this fun exhibit that spreads out across numerous floors and buildings. Its worth stopping by and then walk across the street to the waterfront.
