Interesting museum right on the harbor
The museum is unmissable right on the harbor. It is housed in the bright red buildings of a former fish factory. A wide variety of equipment for fishing and processing fish is on display. The current threat to the world's oceans is also a topic. The centerpieces, however, are the trawler "Cape Sable" and the Salt Bank Schooner "Theresa E. Connor" - the oldest of its kind in Canada.

    Fun for the whole family
The staff was incredibly friendly and great to answer questions. We were able to listen to talks about lobster fishing and boat launching during our visit. My kids had fun participating in boat launch demonstration. There was so much to see we forgot to explore the ship outside during the couple hours we were there. My kids also liked the fish facts and spent a lot of their time finding and reading them.
We are so glad you enjoyed your visit to the museum. It sounds like you had a full couple of hours here! Since you ran out of time, that means you will have to return again to see our schooner Theresa E Connor at our wharf! Thank you for taking the time to post your review.

    A Terrific Museum Experience!
This turned out to be one of the highlights of our Nova Scotia trip, due in no small part to our excellent guide, Kaleb. He made the stories of the dory’s, the cod and haddock, the storms etc., come alive for us. My thirteen year old grandson was mesmerized by the way Kaleb explained the dangers of a life on the sea. This was a very worthwhile visit, but had we just walked through without a guide we would never has gotten as much out of it.
We are very pleased to hear you had such an enjoyable experience at the Museum. I will pass your compliments on to Caleb, I am sure he will be happy to hear. Thank you for posting your review!

What a wonderful experience! I already posted on Facebook how lovely it was but I felt compelled to write it again! We were a group of three. We enjoyed the museum so much! The tour of the Theresa E. Connor was the highlight of our trip. Our tour guide, Ryan, was very knowledgeable and friendly! Another staff member named Kim had us laughing the whole time ! Don't Miss This!
This museum is a must see in my book. They take you back to early Nova Scotia fish techniques and explain the whys and how. We learned so much. There also is a section about the Bluenose and why she is so important to the area. It's great for kids too and be sure to look for Fishy Facts throughout the museum. Everything is beautifully displayed!

    East coast life story
This is a very interesting museum bringing to life the east coast and it's culture over the centuries. 3 floors of intriguing and informative reading and artifacts bring it all to life. And the tour of the Theresa Conner is the icing on the cake. Very much worth your time.
