Lots to see, especially the Ancient Egyptian exhibitions!
It was our first visit to this vast museum and we did the 90-minute ‘Around the world’ highlights tour, but wish we didn’t. I thought because the musuem was so big, we might miss the best exhibits, and this tour would show the best the museum had to offer and provide an interesting overview of major historical events from all over. Unfortunately, the tour guide, as lovely as he was, didn’t have a microphone so we couldn’t hear very well, and we only saw about five artefacts. The information we heard wasn’t particularly interesting and we had to go back and see the exhibits we were actually interested in on our own. If you’ve visited the museum a lot, the highlights tour might be of more interest to you. If not, just explore on your own (especially if you’ve done a bit of research in advance)! I have to say, the architecture is just stunning and atmospheric.

    The British Museum
Truly a must visit museum, problem is that everyone knows this and it can be very crowded, usually far too crowded for my comfort level. This museum documents humans from the very beginning...2 million years of culture!, its permanent collection is the largest in the world. You truly need a half day if possible, if your strapped for time do some research in advance and have a list of the recommended must sees and their location in the museum.

Obligatory passage to London as far as I am concerned. The queue is worrying at 10 a.m., we expect to stay there for a very, very long time and ultimately no! Inside it is very impressive and we find all eras, all continents. The places are also beautiful and clean, you get a little lost sometimes, but at worst you go back and forth a few times and it's sorted!

    Incredible
If you have the chance - go. History lovers, students, and everyone else should make it a point to visit this remarkable museum. Meticulously curated and well-organized it was truly a joy to see all of the various collections ranging from Ancient Egypt to modern currency. The exhibits are set up in a sensible way that flows easily. I appreciated how open the museum is, because nothing makes me want to leave like a claustrophobic feeling room. The objects are artifacts are well cared for and displayed. The museum itself is neat as a pin. Plenty of gift shops throughout, good security, cafes. Just a wonderful place and an unforgettable experience.

A massive collection that owes itself to colonialism
The British Museum has an enormous collection of items, especially those of the ancient world. The Assyrian collection is astounding. You can even view the Rosetta Stone. There's a huge collection of marbles from the Parthenon, including a caryatid. I did leave with mixed feelings since the acquisition of a lot of the items owes so much to colonialism.

    Unmissable museum but too busy
You can book a visit slot online, but this is obviously of no use. Queue for bag check... which can stretch very... very far into the street. Once passed, no slot control... why? Otherwise an unmissable museum of incredible richness. Avoid weekends and holidays to also reduce crowds in theaters. Egyptian and Greek antiquities are very popular.

A breathtaking look at the world gone by
A breathtaking look at the world gone by. The items on display are amazing to see, from the Rosetta Stone onwards. We could have spent all day in the museum, and still not have seen half of what there was to view. I would recommend pre booking tickets, or perhaps joining the membership scheme to fast-track your entry. (We went on a rainy day in February and the general queuing time was over 2 hours)

    Best place in London
I visit the museum every time I go to London. It's free, which is complete madness when everything else costs so much in London. It gets really busy so if you get a chance to get over to the Rosetta Stone or Parthenon Marbles while they aren't crowded, take it.

    Impressive building
Very impressive building we went on a Sunday and the queue was about 40 - 50 minutes to get inside. Once you get inside the building there is so much to see the building is massive with so many different exhibits. It is free to get in to the museum and you could easily spend the full day there. Was very busy and crowded inside the museum.
