Last month, I went to see my older brother in Lyon with my family, as it was an unexpected visit, we didn’t plan anything beforehand. However, we wanted to take some fresh air and my brother strongly recommended the « parc de la Tête d’Or ». Unexpectedly, even if they are a lot of people due to its popularity, the place is really calm and silent and you can feel the cool breeze and the refreshing scent of flowers. Indeed, the place is really popular among the citizens and especially families and runners because the park is huge and it takes minimum one hour by walk to visit it. If you’re not local you can feel easily overwhelmed by the distance you need to walk and you’ll feel like you’re in a endless labyrinth. However, the cool fact about that endless park is that it’s divided in different sections and in each sections there is distinct flowerbed and statues. Finally, a lot of people decide to take their marriage pictures there because of the beautiful sceneries in the park and It’s really pleasant to look at and if you plan to marry it could be a cool add to your photobook.

Nice park, where you can see everything for free (including Zoo). Unfortunately, the zoo was closed on Tuesday, but still the giraffes, pelicans, zebras and flamingos were on display. Nice waters in between. Streams and a turtle pond. The gardens and greenhouses were fantastic too. I was surprised that you could all go there without any entrance fee, also for children very much to do. The only area for improvement are the toilets. This park is definitely recommended!

Parc de la Tête d'Or is hands down one of my favorite places in Lyon, and it’s easy to see why. This vast and picturesque park offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, with something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you're looking for a peaceful walk, a scenic picnic spot, or a place to connect with nature, this park has it all. The park’s centerpiece is its beautiful lake, where you can rent a boat and leisurely paddle around, taking in the lush surroundings. The large open spaces are perfect for a relaxing afternoon, with plenty of green lawns and shaded areas to enjoy the outdoors. There’s also a charming rose garden that’s particularly stunning when the flowers are in full bloom. One of the park's standout features is its zoo, which is home to a variety of animals in a natural, well-kept environment. It’s a fun and educational experience for visitors of all ages. The botanical garden is another gem, showcasing a wide range of plant species in beautifully designed areas. For anyone who enjoys outdoor activities, there are walking and biking paths, making it a great place for an active day in nature. The park also has several cafés where you can stop for a refreshment while enjoying the tranquil atmosphere. Overall, Parc de la Tête d'Or is a must-visit for anyone in Lyon. It’s a perfect blend of nature, beauty, and relaxation, and it’s always a place I love to return to for a peaceful retreat. Whether you're spending a few hours or the whole day, this park offers an unforgettable experience in the heart of the city.

The size of the park is remarkable, so much so that we can spend a whole day both to rest in the public greenery and for the different activities, from botanical areas, to the animals present at the rides, the lake and the guided train. Designed for families and in general for everyone. Also cared for and well managed.

What's better than going to this Park when you're on vacation. Everything is gathered in one place between the zoo, the diversity of flowers and trees, the lake and so on... Very clean park with places to sit and eat, enough to spend half a year there. daytime. A real breath of fresh air located in the heart of Lyon

As soon as you enter this large park, on your right you can see large glass and cast iron greenhouses built around 1867 and partly rebuilt in 1972, whose central body is 21 meters high. Inside there are tropical and subtropical plants from the continent, while a greenhouse is dedicated mostly to camellias. Here, we can see among many others, the chewing gum plant and the agave from which the sisal fiber is extracted. How many of us have imagined the "big tree" of the fragrant frangipani? In reality, and to my amazement, the plant that produces this popular flower used in cosmetics and perfumes is a low, almost groundcover plant. When appearances are deceiving! 😉 Entry starts from 9.00 and is free.

Too beautiful park! It's really huge, there's a lot to do there. The whole zoo side, the rose garden, the lake tour, the Rosalie, the children's games... Whether with friends or family, it's super pleasant and we can have picnics. Plus, entry is free. I really advise you!

We visited the park first by bicycle and later on foot. It was absolutely gorgeous both times. We visited today April 10th there were tons of things in bloom. Make sure to stop in botanic garden to see what is blooming there. Gorgeous park with a lake, zoo, botanical garden, conservatory and biking and running paths. Bathrooms are minimal so plan accordingly.
