Hotels near Nuremberg Palace of Justice

World history was written in the courtroom of the Nuremberg Palace of Justice. This is where leaders of the Nazi regime had to answer for their crimes before an international tribunal between November 20, 1945, and October 1, 1946. The trials had an enormous influence on the development of international criminal law right up to the present. Courtroom 600 remains a working courtroom to this day. The Nuremberg Trials Memorial ("Memorium Nürnberger Prozesse") is an information and documentation center located on the top floor of the Courthouse. In approximately 700 square meters of space, it provides insights about the defendants and their crimes, the Nuremberg Follow-Up Trials of 1946–49, and the impact of the Nuremberg Trials up to the present.

Its Historical burden is impressive, visiting the courtroom that once hosted the trial of Nazi leaders is a must-see experience when visiting the city. Although Room 600 is the star of the place, I recommend allowing enough time to tour the museum on the top floor. Lots of graphic material and objects, which are perfectly explained by the audio-guide they provide you in the entrance. A second recommendation is to view some explanatory film or documentary about the trials prior to the visit, for a better immersion in the historic place.

Definitely visit this site, but go early to beat most of the group tours. With your entrance ticket you are provided an audio to listen to as you proceed through both Courtroom 600 and the upper level of exhibits. It's an excellent audio explanation of all that you see. No tour is needed. Lockers are available on the ground floor and one floor up. I would suggest you use the them to store at least your winter coat (one euro required, that is returned when you retrieve your items) . The upper level can get a bit warm when it starts to get crowded.

One must see attraction once you are in Nuremberg. Very rich materials, a lot of information shared (photos, contemporary documents etc). All written in German mainly but free audio guides are available in 8 languages. Entrance fee is 7.5 euro for adults but if you have visited any other museum in Nuremberg on the same day, you have to pay only 3 euros. You should plan around 2 hours for the visit.

The whole experience is stanning! The reenactment of the trial really takes you back to the time it happened. Its really worth visiting and the access is very easy and cheap. We didn't book a tour guide because the audio guide is included in the 7,5euro entrance ticket . Its a great history lesson not only for the 2WW for all the big wars that happened through the years.

Exteriorly, the building does not necessarily pay for mine especially knowing that it is still used today (blinds of the left building in poor condition). Entrance is more than reasonable Award with audio guide included and it absolutely must be taken: it gives so many explanations that we could not do everything in the afternoon! Without him, the visit would be content with many signs and documents, but only in English and German and very condensed in relation to these explanations. It is quite impressive to start with room 600; especially to visualize in relation to the photos and documents of the period in situation! Beware that it can still be used by the courts and can therefore be closed if necessary. We easily spent 1h30 skipping some stages, especially the very end of the route because the museum was going to close. Small displaceable seats are available in the various rooms, and this is appreciated because there are many signs and explanations each time, too bad that there are sometimes not enough depending on the number of people present. In short, for this Award, if you are passionate about History, to do!

How this is not the 1# attraction of Nuremberg, I don't know! This museum is absolutely amazing. We arrived just as the next screening in the trial room took place and I was actually mesmirized by the unique experience this screening was. It draws you in immediately with the audio and videos from the actual trial being displayed in front of the court room, great way of showcasing the historical room while giving the guests the historical context. dare I say this techinque was "cool", I wish this was used in more museums. The screenings were every one and a half hour, but it is worth staying at the museum so you can catch one of them, we ended up staying in the exhibition until the next screening so there is definitely enough to see while you wait. The exhibition is amazing, too much to see in the time we were their, and though there is an audioguide, it takes the same time listening to it as it would take you to read the text on the displays. We did have a guided group in the exhibiton with us at the same time which made it a bit difficult to get to all of the displays and also not get disctracted by the guide as you tried to listen to the audio guide simultaneously. Went here with my parents, my mum uses a wheelchair and the entire attraction is wheelchair friendly, with a clean accesible toilet on the exhibition floor. Extremely interesting exhibition about an important part of human history. Would recommend!

The Nuremberg trials are a symbol of international Human Rights and the exhibition at the Palace of Justice is informative and inspiring. I would encourage any aspiring lawyers to visit. Courtroom 600, where the Nuremberg trials took place has an excellent multimedia display of the trial. We had watched the film Nuremberg just before visiting which was most helpful for understanding the trial. The upstairs exhibition is in German, you should take the audio guide if you need translation. The palace is easily accessible from old town Nuremberg and right next to a U bahn stop. We purchased a Nuremberg card which gave us 48hours transport and entrance to museums. Would highly recommend this option.

Fantastic to see. It’s a real shame it hasn’t been kept how it was during the trials or at least restored to that. You’re looking for the building to the right of the main building (we got confused when finding it). There is some limited parking outside too which is a bonus. The upstairs exhibit was nice, but a little bit wordy. The audio guide was quite a long explanation of basic things, so we skipped a lot. We spent around an hour here in total.

It is a very impressive museum and palace. Different crossroads of history intersect here. There is so much mystery in the Saal 600. By the way, the film screening is every day: 12.00, 13.20, 15.00. I highly recommend.

An amazing place, if you like history. The historical significance of this Palace of Justice is monumental. You can feel the depth of that significance the minute you enter. It was fascinating to see the reverence that everyone showed in the Nurenburg Trials room. There was complete silence other than people listening to the devices the Palace of Justice provides.

  • Albrecht-dürer-haus Hotels
