Would highly recommend. This free attraction in the centre of Berlin is a great opportunity to get a better look at the city skyline whilst exploring the fascinating government building. Would also recommend getting the free audio guide that you can listen to whilst walking the plenary.Very thorough security that didn’t take long. Tickets can be obtained in the white building just across the road we booked ours the day before but I can imagine you may need to go earlier when in high season.

We visited the Reichstag building on a recent 48 hour trip to Berlin and couldn't be happier that we did. It is an impressive and very striking building located close to the Brandenburg gate. A building full of history both good and bad its sure to captivate the mind and attention of any history buff or anyone looking to learn a little about German history. Be wary if you are wanting to visit the dome this has to be booked atleast a couple of days in advance for security clearance and you must carry photographic ID along with your ticket on the day.

This is an impressive site to visit. Make sure you grab a free audio-guide which will provide plenty of information as you stroll up the dome. The views are great! Make sure you reserve a spot at least a week in advance, if not more. Note that the entrance is not well marked; you have to go to the white trailer-like buildings in the front right of the building. We had an 8am time slot, which is when it opens ... although they say to get there 15 minutes early to get through security, there is no need if you have the 8am time, as it does not open before then. FYI - At 8am there was a good bit of condensation on the dome windows as we walked up. So while we could see okay, it did make taking pictures difficult.

The Reichstag building itself is beautiful with its dome added. Outside the front there is plenty of space to take pictures. When we were there there were renovations taking place and portacabins and railings in front of the building which spoilt the photos a bit but we went around the side of the building and got some pictures instead. We had booked a time slot to see inside the Dome. We had booked in advance some weeks before and secured a time slot on our selected day. When booking online you select three possible times that you can visit and get allocated one of those if available. You must enter the names of all those in your party for security purposes. We chose just to see the Dome although there is an option to book a tour of the Parliament building too although there is less availability for this option as it is only available when Parliament is not in session. They send you an email confirmation if a slot has been given and you print this email and bring it with you. On arrival at the Reichstag there is a portacabin to the right of the front of the building which is where security is. You must have your passports which are checked and then put any small bags through the airport style scanners. It was all very efficient and quick. Then you are taken up to the building in small groups and enter the main door passing through another layer of security. Then taken up in the lift to the Dome. There is a desk before going outside where you can collect a free audio guide in English and I would recommend this. You pop it in your ear and it automatically activates once you start going up the ramp inside the Dome..it tells you about how the Dome was constructed and all the different landmarks as you circle up the inside of the Dome and back down again. Staff were friendly and the once is relaxed whilst you explore the Dome. We had plenty of time to listen to our guide and then come back down in the lift when you are ready. A great experience especially for any architects or structural engineers to look at.

We did the tour of the Bundestag followed by the tour of the Dome, and are glad that we did both rather than just the Dome on its own (which most people tend to do). Book these up to three months in advance directly on the Bundestag.de website. It’s a pretty laborious process, but doesn’t cost anything and is well worth persevering through the stages. You’ll need details of all members of your party, and once booked you’ll receive various email attachments confirming your visit and all the security instructions, etc. You must take your passports to get in! The tour of the Reichstag/Bundestag took around an hour, and it was fascinating to see inside the building, including some of the important architectural features and how various things were incorporated into the re-design. The highlight was ending inside the parliament chamber itself, which has the dome above it providing a source of light. It is pretty impressive! Immediately afterwards, you join everybody else on the tour of the Dome. Again, we were here for about an hour, and took the opportunity of the free audio guide which explains what you’re looking at as you make your way up, and down, the spiral walkway. It changes automatically based on where you are, so I made a steady walk up (not tiring at all, unlike climbing loads of steps) and down and let the audio guide enlighten me as I went. The views all around the city are really good. There does seem to be a café of some kind up at the dome, but it was closed on our visit, and I’m not sure when/if it opens for visitors. Also note that you will not be able to include a tour of the Bundestag (ie. the first part I describe above) if parliament is in session. However, when you visit their website to book, it will give you options (both date ad time) to choose. Hopefully, you’ll be able to select a visit that will fit into your itinerary. Afterwards, it is just a short walk over to the Brandenburg Gate to continue your exploration of the city.

It was an amazing viewing platform as well as seeing the architecture and standing on the historic roof where the Soviet army captured and raised their flag was an experience. The ticket for the roof is cheap and easily obtainable. I recommend to those who want to experience the building but don't have time or desire to walk through an extensive tour inside the building which costs much more and need to book well in advance.

In advance: You have to register online for a day + time. Security checks are well organized and go quickly. You're taken in groups, by an employee up to the dome. We only booked a tour of the Reichstag dome, without a guided tour. From there you have a great view over Berlin. The path to the domed roof is also suitable for wheelchair users. The history of the Reichstag,is well explained on pictures and short information boards. At sunset a dream, above the rooftops of Berlin 😊

Absolutely worthwhile - you should definitely book a guided tour, but please in advance (are probably booked up quickly). For all families with children from primary school age: There is a guided tour especially for families - I didn't expect much, but this was a fantastic tour!!! Children were actively involved, topics were dealt with in a child-friendly manner (but also informative for adults), very competent, entertaining - a very, very big thank you to the gentleman who carried out the 'Housekeeping Family' on 13 October 24 at 12:30!!! A thousand thanks & keep it up! A few criticisms of the Reichstag: 1. The bistro on the domed roof: It is nice that there is a gastronomic offer - but in terms of price that is completely exaggerated. Too expensive for the top ten thousand, perhaps, for families and probably most citizens - a pity there should be an offer 'for the people' here. 2. As written, the tour was great - but I thought it was a bit of a shame that after the tour you could not go back to the ground floor or the boardroom to look at some things again. The tour is designed as a 'restrictive one-way street' - an open concept would fit better and radiate a citizen's touch.

We couldn’t do the full tour as it’s booked up way in advance but the roof tour is well worth a visit but be warned it’s really really high lol. It’s a really impressive structure and you get free audio guides in many languages which tell you about the building but also about what you can see on the skyline. I’m not the best with heights but mange to get to the top and then came down faster than the audio wanted me to 😂. Glad I braved it and the views are amazing.

Visiting the Reichstag building and particularly the Dome was a worthwhile addition to my time in Berlin. It's good to plan your visit in advance due to the popularity of the venue. You need to take your passport to the ticket office across the road from the venue to book an entry pass. We needed to book for the following day. They say you can do it online but there are more admission times available if you go direct to the ticket office. It's free and comes with an audio set on entry which is also free. It's worthwhile and the views of Berlin are expansive. Architecturally an impressive building with interesting history. 10 minutes to get through security and leave about an hour to go through. Impressive
