spend a lot of time in Bonn and for years I have been putting off visiting the Beethoven House because I thought it wouldn’t be worth it - I was extremely wrong! I certainly was in awe and felt inspired walking through Beethoven’s house and birth room for the first time. It’s definitely a place I recommend to visit if you are in Bonn. The original written pieces in the basement temperature controlled room and Beethovens old instruments were my favourite! It’s 7€ for students, 15€ for adults, for children under the age of 6 it’s free! They also have other discounts and admission prices for things like “happy hour”, etc. So it’s super affordable!

Make sure to download the official museum apps. It tells great stories about Beethoven's life. Don't miss the courtyard and basement treasury. The courtyard is small yet very tranquil, imagine looking at the same sky as in Beethoven's eyes. The basement treasury houses a collection of original manuscripts.

Made the journey from Cologne just to go see Beethovens home growing up until age 22. 2 spiral staircases that go up and down. The museum is in a downtown type of area. Interesting artifacts and paintings. There is a room upstairs to listen to a few of his pieces played by what I assume is a local orchestra by headphones. 🎧 You have to download an app to listen to the commentary in your native language or German.

A must! The exhibitions are well curated and offer a deep insight into Beethoven's life and work. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was really captivating. We were moved by the original manuscripts and personal belongings.

Interesting house with many exhibits, originals (letters, sheet music, scripts...), a must for Beethoven and classical music fans, lots of information on the relevant information boards, audio guide available. When we asked, a supervisor provided us with lots of additional information - for example, there was no information about the original use of the individual rooms - Beethoven and his family only lived in the small part of the house (facing the garden) as a child. The front part was home to wealthy citizens who had nothing to do with the Beethoven family. The construction and restoration of the house after the Second World War was also explained to us in detail! Thank you very much!
