Hotels near Casa Milà - La Pedrera

Casa Mila, popularly known as La Pedrera, is a most unusual building, constructed between 1906 and 1912 by the architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926) and declared UNESCO World Heritage in 1984. Today it is the headquarters of Fundacio Catalunya La Pedrera and houses a cultural centre that is a reference point in Barcelona for the range of activities it organises and the different spaces for exhibitions and other public uses it contains. A visit to La Pedrera, landmark building and container, gives us a better understanding and appreciation of architecture and transports us to the period when Antoni Gaudi lived.

It gets crowded so we made a reservation - it was a good idea
I visited at 10am on a weekday morning. There were already many visitors and it was a great success. After touring the building, you can go up to the rooftop, where you can see the city of Barcelona, and the weather was great that day. It's popular, so it was a good idea to make a reservation first thing in the morning.
Thanks for sharing, your opinion is very valuable! 😉❣️

    Gaudi's Best
We simply loved this place. The interior areas are special, but the roof sculptures were even better. What an experience! Be sure and spend some time in the gift shop. We collected some nice Gaudi-themed items as souvenirs.

I bought a premium ticket to La Pedrera. It was a worthwhile experience because the ticket allows you to visit special rooms in the casa. Silvia, my guide, was delightful. Her love of working in this environment is evident. We ended the 90 min tour with a chilled glass of cava and delicious cookies that popped in your mouth. I highly recommend this guided tour.

Give priority to visiting here rather than Sagrada Familia
Can learn much about Gaudi here especially in the attic with its models & methods of construction for various sites. Helpful staff and we used the free digital guides you are given on entry. They follow you round and the recording changes where ever you are in the building. We had two highlights - the fully furnished apartment - quite large with various rooms and original furniture of the time [early 20th C]. Much thought given by Gaudi to the layout, for natural lighting etc. The other highlight was, of course, the roof top with the various chimney types and air vents. You miss much if this is closed due to bad weather, so rearrange if this happens. Good views over the city.

    Undulating Architecture
This is one of the superb Mondernista buildings, originally apartments. Very unusual undulating design. It's on everyone's bus tour and walking tour, so be prepared for big crowds. But since it is located on the wide Passeig, you can step back and get a good perspective and a good photo.

    La Pedrera (Casa Milà)
Seen from the outside you realize how much passion and will it takes to make an architect's dream come true. Internally you can admire an apartment left totally original both in the Spanish walnut furniture from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century and in all the finishes such as the tiles and parquet. The ironwork of the balcony railings is masterfully crafted in a modernist style. The terrace with the oversized chimneys give the impression of the desire to show the grandeur of the project. Finally, you can see in the background, not far away, the colored spiers of the Sagrada Familia. Incredible.

    A marvel of architecture
This is one of the few places that can be safely said to have been created by a genius. The building is very characteristic from the outside, not only because of the crowds of tourists in front of the entrance, a little less known inside, but equally amazing. Gaudi created something wonderful, not only as the facade of the building, but also as the interior - there are no simple and boring rooms or staircases inside. Everything is in Gaudi's characteristic style. We definitely recommend it, both from the outside and inside. Only this price...

    Pricey but worth it
Although I preferred Casa Batllo, Casa Mila is definitely worth a visit. It’s perhaps the most unique apartment complex in the world. The audio guide provides fascinating insight into the building without being boring or difficult to understand. I recommend making sure you tour the apartment as there are lots of interesting details here. The other highlight of the visit is the roof, with its unique chimneys. Although there are lots of stairs on the roof. But there is an elevator that you can take downstairs if you need to

    Icon of architecture in Barcelona.
The Casa Milá is an architectural surprise. It is a local architectural icon. Built in the early 20th century, it was designed by architect Antonio Gaudi. Strategically located on Passeig De Gracia, it welcomes thousands of visitors every year. Go in time to observe the details.

The warm light of the advanced afternoon.... magic!
A classic stop at Barcelona! A visit to admire one of the many modernist architectures of the Catalan city. To avoid surprises booked through site and everything was resolved quickly. Lots of angles, lots of details everywhere. Don't forget to appreciate before going out the beautiful stair railings and the "light" right on the ceiling next to the door. Certainly in good weather the roof with its chimneys is magical. Radiators, bathrooms with water through pipes, "garage" for carriages today event room.... all to be discovered. Visit carried out independently.

Basilica de la Sagrada Familia is a church devoted to the Holy Family. One of Antoni Gaudi’s most famous works, the church is perhaps best known for still being under construction since 1882—with works funded purely by donations. Take a lift to the top of the towers for a panoramic view of the city and marvel at the ornate architecture. The nativity facade and crypt have also been awarded UNESCO World Heritage Status. Skip the line with a pre-booked tour with tower access, or combine your visit with another of Gaudi's work, Parc Guell. – Tripadvisor

This pedestrian-only street is a rite of passage for first-time travelers in Barcelona. Starting from Plaça de Catalunya, amble along the boulevard where you'll find food kiosks and spot famed attractions like the Gran Teatre del Liceu theater, the Palau de la Virreina Palace, and La Boquería market—the city’s famous marketplace. Entertainment is plenty too thanks to the human statues and caricature artists, amidst other wacky street performers. If you’re not planning to shop, enjoy a jug of sangria at any of the tapas bars and people-watch away. Besides joining city tours, Barcelona’s hop-on hop-off bus is another great way to get here. – Tripadvisor
