    Eclectic Street
An eclectic mix of bars, restaurants and shops. Pedestrian friendly and interesting variety of wares. Prices extremely high which makes me wonder who would purchase the goods. Comes alive in warmer weather.

Aaw, man. I was in the Vintage Hotel apartments with a street view. It was really cool. Lots of restaurants and a wee alternative pub. Merchants. The bars are open until 3am and the souvenir shops are open near midnight as it is daylight 24hrs when I went. One of the best bakeries I've been in was just across from my flat

The central shopping, dining, entertainment street in Reykjavik.
We have always wanted to explore Reykjavik and see Iceland beyond the boring layovers at Keyflavik Airport. This time May 30-June 2, 2023 we made it a stay in the city center right on Laugavegur. At one end of this street is a lovely central square with lively businesses surrounding it. The other ends in a more or less residential area. In between are many colorful buildings, street art, great restaurants, unique shops and bars. Yes, of course it can be touristy with lots of tourists, but don't you find this in any big city? Accentuate the positive, there is plenty of it here.

    Th Shopping District!
Laugavegur is THE place in Reykjavik for shopping, whether you are looking for the bits you’ve forgotten to pack, some souvenirs to take home or some additional camera kit - you’re likely to find it here. The street itself has a lot of the main cafes, hotels and shops meaning a stroll along it will likely find you window shopping or popping in and out of the weather is a bit cooler. It’s also a really great way to see the town centre - just be sure to look up and around as there is some amazing street art to be admired as well!

    Street with a vibe.
Such a cool street! Lots of touristy shops all selling the same things, but also lots of interesting and arty shops, cool cafes and bars. The area has a great vibe, and seems always to be busy and cheerful. Not to be missed.

    Shopping
Our hotel bordered this shopping street & we traveled its entire length more than once. Lots of cool shops, also tourist traps. Found our best price on souvenirs at a convince shop

    More shopping than I expected!
I didn't go to Iceland expecting to shop--I was there for the scenery, and I did that. Plus, I was told it was expensive. However, I was fortunate enough to go in June 2022, when the economy was not in the best place for Iceland. That plus coming from another expensive city made it shockingly affordable to shop. Secondly, I was very surprised by what I found in Iceland; there's great fashion, beautiful handmade jewelry and crafts, and incredible artwork. Reykjavik is an incredible metropolitan city that is not overwhelming, loaded with culture, and much more posh than you would think. This area changed my thinking: I would recommend doing a little shopping here, if you can afford it.

    Lovely shops
A long street filled with shops, cafes and restaurants. There were lots of similar tourist shops but also some selling traditional Icelandic items which were very nice. It was nice to stroll up and down and pick up some souvenirs.

Lunch for 800 krona in central Reykjavik
Fabulous trip . So many things to see and do. So many excellent places to eat but prices are eye watering. If you fancy a light lunch this cafe on the main Laugavegur road is simple, friendly and warm. Cup of tea and an excellent toasted ham and cheese sandwich all for 800krona

Nice murals, cute shops, bars, restaurants and friendly Icelanders
Without a doubt everyone visiting Reykjavik will pass this street. Reykjavik is a small town and this is one of the main and oldest streets. It has plenty of souvenir shops, bars, restaurants,... Best are the colorful houses in the area with vivid colors and nice murals and graffiti.
