A Must See in Washington DC
We visited twice, once on our own in the day time and later, on a night time tour. Both times it was crowded (though less so at night). In the day time it was very crowded, and it is worth patiently navigating your way through the crowds to view this impressive monument up close and take in the speech inscribed in stone, and other information about the 16th President. (A little useful tip: underneath, there are public toilets - not always easy to find in US cities).

    Now that's a ststue!
A towering figure of American history deserves a towering statue, and the Lincoln Memorial fits the bill. But the memorial is more than just the statue. The building is itself impressive and the associated displays add depth to the tale behind the man. This is a definite DC must visit.

Stunning to see at night, but its busy
This was my first time visiting DC. I was visiting my son who was recovering from an injury during deployment. We took advantage of this opportunity and explored DC. The number one thing I had to see was the Lincoln Memorial. What an experience to see it up close. Stunning. Be prepared it's busy, very busy. Even at night around 8 pm. It is huge and there are steps. They were working on a ramp for wheelchair, but not completed as if March 2024. This is a must.

    Construction in progress
À wonderful memorial to our 16th President that everyone should visit when in DC. Currently in the middle of a 69 million dollar upgrade to the lower level which is scheduled to be completed by 2026. Due to the construction, restrooms are currently relocated nearby.

A Great Memorial to a Great Man
I arrived at the Memorial early on a Tuesday morning before the tourist and school groups arrived, and for at least 15 minutes had the Memorial to myself. The Memorial is an impressive building based on Neo classical architecture and the sculpture of Lincoln is fantastic, The murals and inscription on the walls inside are also very impressive. There is some construction taking place outside of the memorial so this sails the exterior views of the front of the structure. There are also great views of the National Mall, Monument and Capitol Building from the Memorial. It can become very busy at peak times so visit early as I did.

    Impressive memorial
One of the many beautiful memorials in Washington DC. The view from there is wonderful over the National Mall to the Capitol. The size is very impressive. Seen so often in many films and then suddenly you are standing in front of it. The texts engraved on the wall are also worth reading. At the moment the memorial is only partially open because it is being built or renovated, like many places in Washington DC. The rush of visitors to the open site is therefore all the greater.

    Another Bucket List Site
I had eagerly looked forward to to the Lincoln Memorial, Pres. Lincoln being my most revered President. We were there around sunset, so the picture-taking wasn’t the best. There was a huge accessible ramp constructed to bypass construction taking place, and construction fencing and barriers blocked part of the view of the iconic memorial and statue from below. I walked up the stairs to the inside, though the lighting inside wasn’t great for my pictures at that time of day. I was somewhat dismayed at the numerous teenage students who were milling about, shouting and laughing, and taking selfies, showing no reverence or thought for where they were. Still, standing at the foot of the statue was an awe-inspiring experience to see & ponder. I’ve very glad I went there, and would recommend as a Must-See memorial in Washington DC.

    Awesome place
Awesome place to go see the Lincoln memorial. Until you see the statue you don’t realise how big it is . Also from where Lincoln is facing , it’s almost like he’s watching the Washington monument and capitol building as they appear to be in a straight line. Don’t miss it you are there

    Beautiful
The Lincoln Memorial is way bigger in real life than I thought it would be. The whole memorial is very, very cool. It's free of course and you can get some great photos with the statue and the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. This is also a 15 minute walk away from the White House and Washington Memorial, which you should also check out. Overall, this is probably one of the most iconic spots in DC and therefore a must-see attraction.

Trip with two teenage boys in DC
My husband & I took our grandsons, 12 & 14 to DC so they could enjoy and experience our nation's capital. We had 3 full days and we really filled them. We stayed in the Capital Hill/Navy Yard area which does have many restaurants, is close to a Metro station as well as the Baeball stadium. For the Air & Space museum get tickets ahead - it gets full so ticket/passes are needed (free). we go to the Hirschorn Modern Art museum, The Potrait Museum, The Holocaust Museum, American History museum. Also had a tour of the White House as well as the Capital. The Capital tour was a big hit. Made it to most of the monuments during the day but also went back at night because they are stunning at night. Last museum was the International Spy Museum (not a mithsonian and $ticket needed. Went to the National Zoo too, although if short on time skip it. Eastern Market (Capital Hill) is a great stop too. We never made it to Georgetown - next time! (I've been there many times so I didn't mind) Our boys were very engaged at all the Museums - thrye loved Spy Museum.
