The palace comprises local architecture from late 1800s. It was built by the equivalent of local mayor who had 4 wives - hence 4 riads. I would stress that this helpful summary came from one of the guides. We did not have a tour and mainly read the boards which were minimal compare to say the UK national trust and lacked any real depth. Luckily we turned up early around 10am so got to see the whole site without too many people and their accompanying guides. If you want to hear the more interesting elements of the site - maybe get the guide. Part of site was closed for refurbishments which mean the visit only took us 1h 15 and we went around twice. 100dhiram entry fee as we had to pay the non locals price.

The Bahia Palace in Marrakech is a place of undeniable architectural beauty and rich in history. The preservation of the palace is remarkable, allowing visitors a true journey in time. During our visit, we were impressed by the richness of the details and the grandness of the spaces. However, as it is common in popular sights, especially in high season, we had difficulty taking photos without having other people in the frame but this is something expected... The entry price (100 MAD for adults and 50 MAD for children) could be more friendly but still acceptable considering the historical importance of the venue. We chose to take the tour on our own, without a Guide, which allowed us to explore at our own pace. However, the experience would probably have been more enriching with a Guide explaining the history of space. Still gave to hear some interesting facts of guides on excursions. I recommend visiting this place of extreme beauty and of utmost importance history and culture of Marrakech.

Our visit to the Bahia Palace in Marrakesh was a mix of awe and frustration. The palace showcases Morocco's rich history and architectural beauty, but there were some drawbacks that affected our experience. The intricate tile work, beautiful courtyards, and lush gardens were indeed breathtaking. Each room we explored offered something unique, with detailed ceilings and ornate decorations that highlighted the palace's grandeur. The courtyards were particularly enchanting, with their serene fountains and vibrant flora. It was a pleasure to stroll through these tranquil spaces and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. However, the palace was a little bit crowded in some areas. The sheer number of visitors made it difficult to fully appreciate the details and take photos without interruption. Additionally, there was one person with a professional photographer for her portriats who was constantly in everyone’s way and blocking things. This detracted from the overall experience. While the signage and explanations provided were helpful, they were sometimes hard to read due to the crowds. We are glad we had a guide who added more depth to our visit, and I would recommend this for those who want a more comprehensive understanding of the palace's history.

Bahia Palace or “beauty palace” is located in the heart of the ochre city, juxtaposing the Medina. It is absolutely important to visit it because it is a cultural hotspot of the city, far from the hustle and bustle of Jemaa El Fna Square. Moorish style, we find the classics but nevertheless magnificent decorations typical of Moroccan architecture: zelliges, cedar wood, stucco. We visited it in the middle of the August heat, around 2 p.m., because there were few people. But you will always be in the shade of a tree or building. Take a Guide to further enhance your visit as this palace is steeped in history and it is important to understand its evolution over time (from viziers to French...) and the correspondence of the rooms.

An incredible example of Moroccan architecture, this is an undeniably beautiful and surprisingly vast space that is a must see while in Marrakech. There was a bit of reconstruction going on during our visit, but I didn't mind. I can only imagine how mind blowing this site will be if it received even half the level of care that went into the recent Medersa Ben Youssef renovations!! There were several field trips occurring during our visit, but the space is so large that it wasn’t a nuisance. There was also an interesting exhibit featuring the work of Berber weavers (so cool to see the individual women honored with their photograph next to their work) and a female painter of French and Moroccan descent. My one complaint is there is very little signage. Even the temporary exhibits did not provide much helpful information. Placards next to historic objects simply said, “Tray” or “Pot.” They can’t even tell us the material or around what year these items were made?? I hope that with the reconstruction a bit more information is provided to honor the history behind this beautiful palace. My advice is to go with a reputable guide or read up on the space before visiting. I had to pull out Wikipedia while I was there. Thank goodness I had bought an eSIM and had a data plan.

The area to be viewed is relatively small with limited access to the gardens and access to the main building structures itself. Some renovations are underway and therefore we couldn’t see all exhibits. Nevertheless it was a worthwhile visit. We visited during peak season so it was very crowded. There were very few staged rooms so mainly empty rooms. Architecture is however beautiful. Tips You can buy tickets at the gate. Cost is 100dhm for adults and 50dhms for under 13 year olds. The palace is within walking distance of Medina market square therefore no need to take a taxi.

Took a cab from the hotel to bahia Palace around 10 am. Queues for the ticket office were small. Ticket prices are 100 DIR, and children under 12 are 50 DIR. You can hire a tour guide but we just did it ourselves, all the information boards are in English, French, Arabic. A very pleasant walking tour, plenty of toilets, no stores to buy anything at the we went. Good to go in the morning when the heat is lower. Good for kids too, this walking tour won't take more than 1.5 hours When you exit the front gate there are loads of shops /stalls for all sorts definately worth browsing and haggling! Plenty of taxis to grab nearby, always haggle on price and agree before entering otherwise use a ride app like ROBY.

It appears old and uninteresting from the outside, and it is. In my guide, more than a century old. As soon as you step inside, you realize how meticulous the builders were with every little detail. The column capitals are elaborately carved, and the ceilings are stunning cedar wood.

Cultural and interesting experience learning about Moroccan history. Tickets wise — they are 100 dirihams and are cash only. You can’t pre book and have to queue when you get there. At about 11am when we visited, the queue was no longer than 5 minutes. When we left at midday, it was even shorter. The place is rammed full of tourists and tour groups, making pictures hard work but didn’t nullify the beauty within. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit, even with one of the quadrangles being under reconstruction following a previous earthquake. Overall, give it a go!

Has to be visited once. Queue well managed- took less than 10 mins at 11:00. 100 MAD entry. Good loos. Throughout the palace: Incredible mosaic-covered high ceilings. Beautiful arches. Lots of people posing for photos by water features and doors. Pretty crowded. Sadly Garden not accessible in Feb due to workmen repairing throughout. Best bit was an interesting exhibition on the soul of a rug, including a virtual reality 10 minute immersive video - worth queuing to enjoy the process from sheep shearing to cutting the rug from the loom and gifting it to the in-laws.
