- Andy BOswestry, United Kingdom12 contributionsAn absolutely brilliant experience. What a great time we had visiting Watatunga. The staff are very friendly & knowledgeable, answering any questions we had. The safari itself is brilliant, going around in golf buggies whilst having a commentary over walk talkies by the guide. We luckily managed to see all of the animals when we went and were given relevant information about all the different species. You are given time to take photos & can ask any questions via the walkie talkies. All in all a fantastic experience that far exceeded our expectations.Thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful experience at Watatunga! Maximum enjoyment if you like wildlife you take a chasnce on what you see as the animals are free to roam the entire site but staff do home in on where thye are most likely to be and we had some close encounters which added to the enjoyment. - nic19742017Leicester, United Kingdom25 contributionsEnjoyable visitVisited with my husband and 15year old . We enjoyed having our own little buggy to ourselves & goin thro the shallow water and over a few bumps made it more exciting , the two tour guide ladies were very friendly and helpful . One gave us a lovely welcome as we stepped out the car , we both commented how nice she was . We Enjoyed what a hidden gem this place is , so picturesque , loved the wooden huts for the animals to shelter in . only thing if we had to say any comments was we stopped to look at the deer on the edge of the water for just a little too long as we all got a bit bored of what the guide said but that’s just our opinion & possibly as we live right near to Bradgate park in Leicestershire with thousands of deer . , we preferred it when we were driving along & listening to her , The buggy for us was lots of fun & bonus to see the water buffalo. Coffee shop nice touch at the end . Clean toilets and well kept area in general . Enjoyable visit .Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts on your recent visit! We're thrilled to hear that you and your family enjoyed the adventure. It's delightful to know that our tour guide ladies left a positive impression, and we appreciate your kind words about the warm welcome. - DarrenSaxmundham, United Kingdom373 contributionsA novel way to spend a few hoursYou can never predict what wildlife will do, and driving through the reserve you need to keep en eye out. Our guide was talking a little too much for my liking, information is good, but it was constant throughout the drive, and over walkie talkies, so it wasn’t great quality. Be aware that it’s bumpy and if you have bad back, either drive at a snails pace or be prepared for a very bumpy ride. You are not allowed to use your phones whilst driving the buggy. They are doing good work here and it should be applauded and supported.Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on your visit to our reserve. We appreciate your feedback and are glad to hear that you acknowledge the unpredictable nature of wildlife. We apologise if your guide's commentary was a bit overwhelming for your liking - we are working towards a happy balance to ensure guest satisfaction! We understand that our tracks are not the most even and we continuously work to keep these as even as possible, unfortunately the weather plays against us a lot! Your support means a lot to us, and we look forward to continually improving and providing memorable experiences for our guests.Written February 21, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten October 7, 2023
- GrandTour5926903 contributionsAccidental holiday highlightThought this would break up a weeks break at the seaside and despite some doubting and reluctant kids in tow this ended up being the highlight of the holiday! It is a nature reserve so you can't guarantee what you'll see but we saw a very good selection of the birds, deer and wildlife in the park. The change of position in the convey also helped to ensure we got good views of everything and the guide was knowledgeable and helpful. Plus driving rhe buggy was entertainment in itself! We're thrilled to hear that our reserve ended up being the highlight of your holiday, especially with the initial hesitance. We appreciate your understanding that we can't guarantee specific sightings, but we're delighted you were able to enjoy a good selection of wildlife. - veggiedykeNorwich, United Kingdom241 contributionsWonderful visitI was hoping it was going to be special, but my expectations were exceeded, and that doesn't often happen! We had a lovely family day at Watatunga. The guide was so knowledgeable and friendly. I am sure she was saying things she says often, but she sounded as engaged and happy as if it was the first time. (I'm sorry, I forgot her name, but she said she had lived in South Africa.) We learned a lot, saw tons of beautiful animals, and were impressed by their conservation work. We'd love to return another time.Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience at Watatunga. We're thrilled to hear that your family day exceeded expectations and that you enjoyed the tour. We'll make sure to pass on your compliments to our guide, who we believe may be Alex!Written February 21, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten October 9, 2023
