Hotels near Barmouth Bridge

Barmouth Bridge, 150 years old in 2017. There is an honesty toll for pedestrians and cyclists to cross between Barmouth and Fairbourne. Once on the Fairbourne side, there is a path into Fairbourne itself, or you can travel up the famous Mawddach Trail along the disused railway line towards Dolgellau via the George the III pub.

    Walk over Barmouth Bridge
Fabulous walk with views over the estuary. We took the little ferry to the end of the miniture Fairbourne steam railway. Rode on the railway to Fairbourne. Stopped in a cafe for a bit. Took the normal train one stop and walked from there across the bridge and back into Barmouth. You could do a longer walk from Fairbourne (our toddler wasn't feeling it). It's best to check the mainland train timetable ahead of time as they are more infrequent than we expected.

    Barmouth Bridge
Great walk, lf a little windy, over the bridge. We parked at the station on the south side of the estuary and walked over. Beware...we had hoped to find a cup of tea once we arrived in Barmouth but everywhere was closed on a Friday afternoon in January

    Beautiful views
Whilst staying in Barmouth I ran out over the bridge and along the trails on the other side where you can run for miles. The bridge is lovely, a bit rickety but the views are spectacular. Worth a walk or run if you are staying in the town.

    Good
We were staying in the area and decided to have a walk across the bridge as the weather was good. It is a short walk away from the centre and can be difficult to cross the road to get to the path. There is a little booth which I think you can put donations into which has pictures of trolls. The bridge has been recently renovated I believe. It is a nice walk and the train track is next to the path so you can potentially get a train crossing over when walking on the bridge. You can walk to the next town along the coast or use the small train station on the other side of the river. There are some walking paths off the path once across the bridge. Nice place to visit

    Love Barmouth, worth the visit.
Amazing walk over the Barmouth bridge and then a saunter through town. An excellent way to spend the day. Ate at a sandwiches place near the amusement rides, good healthy food… but then pigged out on a four bag of hot donuts dipped in sugar. Delicious.
