Come see what’s new at Manatee Lagoon – An FPL Eco-Disovery Center®! We’ve reopened our enhanced facility, and you’re invited to come enjoy the new offerings. Tuesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., visit our educational building, upper and lower observation decks, a new augmented reality solar 3D exhibit, and tropical grounds with outstanding views of the picturesque Lake Worth Lagoon. While spotting manatees is not guaranteed, Manatee Lagoon is an ideal location to see them during cooler weather when they congregate near the clean, warm-water outflow of the adjacent FPL Rivera Beach Next Generation Clean Energy Center. The likelihood of seeing a manatee increases during manatee season, which begins November 15th.

The overall size of this facility really impressed me - there is so much room for parking, even an overflow area. Nice park as well, where you can get views of Lake Worth. The day we went there were no manatees to be seen - there is a board in the building that provides information on daily sightings - and online there is streaming video of potential manatee locations in the lagoon. What seems to be most important is the weather forecast - and, unlike most Floridians, you should hope for colder weather, which encourages the manatees to spend time in the artificial lagoon, close to the warmer waters that come out of the FPL building. So, even without the manatees showing up, there are very impressive exhibits indoors, knowledgeable staff, large gift shop, and a full schedule of tours and activities.

Amazing and very educational introduction to Florida manatees for visitors of all ages. Large free parking lot, free entrance, best to visit on a very cold day in January. There are various tours and programs at this discovery center, small gift shop, clean bathrooms. Large outdoor terraces offer a good view of the Manatee Lagoon, and the surrounding Lake Worth Lagoon.

We did both tours that they offer. The All about Manatees tour gave much of the same information as the inside exhibits. There were bonus artifacts that we could look at, but otherwise, the same info. The conservation tour was outside and walked through each part of the dock/oceanfront. They identified fish and different water plants, and helped us find a manatee. If you wanted a tour, I would recommend this one. Otherwise, it is much busier in the early winter months (December through January) because the manatees seek out the warm water of the power plant.

Nice, but very brief museum. There’s some good information about manatees. They don’t have any interactive exhibits, but the facility is well kept, informative and it’s free to park and enter. I didn’t even see a fish while I visited, but the t was a fairly warm morning. If you love manatees and are in the market, they have a really cute gift shop too.
Hello, Thank you so much for visiting, and we’re glad you enjoyed your time with us. Come back around manatee season (starting in November 15) for a better chance to see the wild sea cows. We also offer programming throughout the year like Mindful Moments Yoga for adults, Public Tours, and more to make the most of your visit.

The place is impeccably clean and d well maintained. A nice place to spend 1-1 1/2 hours to learn about manatees and perhaps catch a glimpse of them. They are more present from November till March so try to plan your visit around then if you want me to see them. Really cute gift shop and large selection of choices.- wear polarized sunglasses for best viewing!

Temps in the 70s and over 100 Manatees to see. Place was busy on Saturday but everyone was polite and there was plenty of room for viewing the manatee. Lots of educational opportunities and a nice gift shop to help support protecting the manatee mission.
Hello, Thank you so much for the great review. We’re so happy you were able to see so many of our manatee visitors. Hope to have you back again soon!

Very educational displays with information about manatees and other local waterlife. Beautiful manatee-themed artwork upstairs. We spotted two manatees and some large fish. Their live web camera let us wave in real-time to our son in Finland! (Knew about this because he and his wife did the same last year).

We saw dozens of manatees on a visit in mid January. Check the cam before you go to see if they’re around. Small visitor center. This is a short outing but well worth it if the manatees are around.

The Museum’s permanent collection now consists of more than 7,600 works in five curatorial departments: European, American, Chinese, Contemporary and Photography. The Museum’s expansion that opened February 9, 2019 was designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Lord Norman Foster of the architectural firm Foster + Partners. It is the most comprehensive in the institution’s 78-year history. Dramatic changes include boldly re-orienting the main entrance to South Dixie Highway , which restores the symmetrical east-west campus axis created in 1941 by original architect Marion Sims Wyeth. The building and accompanying lush sculpture garden, enable the Norton to exhibit more art, present more programs, and provide a growing community an up-to-date center for the public to enjoy art and culture.
