- Pete A2 contributionsI am giving Hadley Pointe an absolute 5/5 and this is based on the overall experience that my family and I had on Christmas Day. First, we had skied the slopes before on several occasions and had decent experiences… minus a shoulder separation a few years back. My wife found that new owners were involved and followed on social media. Two days before Christmas, she had an idea to book a spontaneous trip for the two of us and my college aged son. When we arrived, we were not disappointed with the details of the improvements! The staff members were warm and friendly, and the atmosphere was absolutely amazing. We checked in easily and swiftly, and went to the self-serve kiosks for equipment. The resort had just opened three days prior, so we anticipated some hiccups. These were minimal and were met with the staff recognizing an opportunity to allow our experience to be amazing. A gentleman came up to me and turned his attention to me to make sure my experience was as anticipated. At first, there had been a small delay in getting equipment, but that was soon remedied by this gentleman and we were on the slopes…outfitted in their NEW equipment. I later learned that this was the owner’s husband! Both were on site, visible, engaging and working… Not just watching but working to make sure everything was in perfect condition. Very impressive! Every person that was working that day was very friendly, and I have very seldom received such customer service that seemed to be solely focused on a positive experience for my family. The slopes were in perfect shape for the East, the food on the deck was adorable and result available, mimosas were in the right spot for traffic and the warmers kept my beautiful wife toasty and on the deck for the entire day! We stayed on the slopes until it closed, enjoyed food, bought memorabilia in the swag store and vowed to come back with even more friends and family. I absolutely recommend this resort and look forward to future accommodations and spa features! - Peter and HeatherVisited December 2024Travelled with familyWritten January 6, 2025
- Cathy Y3 contributionsTrip Advisor needs to remove the old reviews of the previous ski resort that closed almost two years ago. The only thing that remains from what was Wolf Laurel Ski Resort is the giant moose who graces the new bar area. Hatley Pointe has been lovingly re-imagined and rebuilt with amazing attention to detail to provide an outstanding boutique experience. We drove up to the resort and were greeted by a giant lighted moose and Christmas lights everywhere. A roaring fire greets guests (with complimentary s'mores this weekend). The new lodge is classy and the restaurant has a fun vibe. We had reservations for the soft opening and we can't wait to be back. The dishes are very generous...we started with a wedge salad and enjoyed a very different and delicious eggplant parmesan and a hearty beef stew. The person who greeted us and came to check on us later during our meal was Deborah Hatley, the owner of the resort. Her brother is the executive chef and the dedication they've placed into every detail shines thru. She recommended the Cherry Cobbler with Strawberry Goat Cheese homemade ice cream for dessert. Although it sounds like a strange combo it was outstanding. We were excited to see the snow blowing as they build the base of the mountain to open for ski season in a few days. Hatley Pointe is such a welcome addition to Wolf Laurel and this part of North Carolina. Thank you to the Hatleys for bringing their amazing vision of a 4 season resort to our mountain.Visited November 2024Travelled with familyWritten December 2, 2024
- LadyTigerSC39 contributionsThe old ski resort bought by Hatleys. It has been closed for major renovations. New beautiful restaurant with bar, totally revamped ski slopes and snow making equipment. All new equipment. The new resort opens hopefully for skiing around Dec. 7 2024. The restaurant is open with full service lunch and dinner on December 4th. I suggest you visit their website Hatleys Pointe Mars Hill NC. Call or email before go since they are just opening for their first season.Visited December 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten December 2, 2024
- KPHershnerOrlando, Florida7 contributionsWe had a fantastic experience on Christmas Day! I was so impressed with how seamlessly everything was running considering that they just recently opened for business. The grounds were decorated beautifully, and we were able to park just a few steps from the lodge. We were greeted by the nicest gentleman, and that friendliness followed with every staff member we encountered throughout the day. Once we checked in, we were able to purchase a locker to use for the day. Every area was so clean and well appointed. We made our way out to the lift and jumped on with no wait. I realize that there are limited runs available right now, but the snow conditions were great, and we never waited in line once throughout the day and evening. The lodge makes for a great place for non skiers and those taking a break to watch. It was dog friendly, the bar was open, the grill was going, and music was playing. It was a fun atmosphere with a great view of the ski hill. There were all kinds of extras from s’mores kits to juice and fresh baked Norwegian waffles. The lodge had many areas with comfortable seating and close proximity to a fireplace. Once we finished skiing for the day, we made our way up to Smoke and Timber for dinner. We were greeted by Seth, and he made us feel right at home. The food and service were excellent, and it was a fun way to end the day. From start to finish, we enjoyed every moment, and we will certainly be back. Thank you to all the staff at Hatley Pointe for making this a Christmas that our family will never forget!Visited December 2024Travelled with familyWritten December 27, 2024
- Matt C1 contributionFamily of five. Eleven, Ten and Three year old. Three year olds first time on the slopes. They have a nice bunny slope with a belt lift. Not all the runs were open but that side of the country has received so much damage from the hurricane that there were trees uprooted every where. For us it was an easy 5 hr drive from Nashville and we were blessed with 3-4 inches of powder the first day of skiing. We stayed in a bnb cabin in wolf laurel resort. Dined at Smoke and Timber. Highly recommend Hatley Pointe. Thank you for a wonderful experience.Visited January 2025Travelled with familyWritten January 5, 2025
- famcundiffPalms Central, Florida2 contributionsWe had a truly unforgettable two days at Hatley Point Ski Resort! From start to finish, the experience was exceptional, thanks to the incredibly helpful and welcoming staff. A special shoutout to Brian, the ski instructor, whose kindness and encouragement were instrumental in helping our initially reluctant daughter take the leap—literally—onto the ski lift. His patient and authentic teaching style not only helped her conquer her fear but also allowed her to experience the true joy of skiing. What started as hesitation quickly turned into pure excitement, and by the end of the trip, we could hardly get her off the slopes! This was truly a life-changing moment for her and for us, and we credit Brian for making it happen. Had it not been for him, we would have spent both days on the bunny hill, missing out on the magic of skiing. Beyond the ski instruction, every employee we encountered contributed to making our stay wonderful. The resort itself is well-run, and we ended our trip with a spectacular meal at their on-site restaurant, the perfect way to wrap up an amazing experience. If I had one small suggestion, it would be to have the second magic carpet running, as it would give new skiers a slightly longer slope to practice on before progressing. But overall, our stay was fantastic, and we can’t wait to return!Visited February 2025Travelled with familyWritten March 2, 2025
- Julie C4 contributionsWe went to Hatley this weekend and it was awesome! They are so kind and accommodating. We had an issue with getting tickets that we needed and the owner stepped in and got them approved for us. The food at the bistro was very good and the options change daily. Which we liked. The slopes were great and we look forward to going back in February.Visited January 2025Travelled with familyWritten January 19, 2025
- MarcutshJonesborough, Tennessee43 contributionsHatley Point is a beautiful and unique resort experience. The lodge, restaurant, bars and decks are amazing and upscale. You can tell the owners are striving for greatness. This is their first year and I’m sure it has been a learning experience for running a ski resort in the Southern Appalachian mountains. Unfortunately while I was there the weather had not cooperated and snow conditions were not optimal with skiing only on 5 runs and from mid mountain. Hopefully in the future they will be able to get snow down and have the mountain covered in a solid base throughout the season. Massive Investment in the snowmaking operation has been done with state of the art snow making machines and infrastructure. This should payoff with great conditions in the future. We really enjoyed our visit and will return when the mountain is fully covered in snow. At that point I will review the ski mountain and that experience.Visited February 2025Travelled as a coupleWritten February 14, 2025
- Brooke PCharleston, South Carolina34 contributionsExcellent new Southeast Skiing destination. Quiet, small mountain, Perfect if you don't want lift lines and want a chill day of enjoying skiing/boarding. Everything the new owners have done with the place is top notch. Quad lift was open and took you midway or to top of mountain. Never stood in lift line longer than 5 minutes on Sunday and Monday never waited in line. Snow was better than expected and runs were perfect for my family of 4. Other skiers very respectful and no jerrys acting crazy putting people in danger. Check in process was a breeze, lodge was beautiful and bathrooms were very clean. All staff were very friendly and seemed happy to work there. We will be back!Visited February 2025Travelled with familyWritten February 25, 2025
- kraines16 contributionsThis resort is fabulous! From the great quad that was more efficient than other NC resorts with multiple lifts and awesome snow making and natural snow, our weekend was terrific. The all day DJ at the lodge made for fun for everyone! Peak Pies were some of the best pizza, cheesesteaks were amazing and the post skiing drinks were delicious! Super kind employees, clean facilities and just the best day! The new owners have really thought of everything! Thank you for the best mother son weekend!Visited January 2025Travelled with familyWritten January 19, 2025
