This really is a very good museum with well presented items which chart the history of the Green Howards. It’s located more or less in the centre of Richmond and there are nearby car parks ( time limited). It only cost £8 for two entrance tickets and basically, you start at the top and work your way down. There is, I think, a lift available. Every item on display has explanatory notes which are clear and concise. There are some interactive exhibits also. For us, the medal room was truly awe inspiring. Row upon row of medals undoubtedly worn with pride by their recipients. The highlight was the display of Victoria Crosses and reading some of the citations was an humbling experience. There were no other visitors at that particular time so it was possible to stand in silence for a few moments…Lest we forget. There is a small gift shop and toilets. Highly recommended.

Where do we start! Prior to our visit, I reached out to Zoe (head of collections) and asked if the museum held my husbands grandmothers late fathers war medals. Zoe confirmed that they did. I asked Zoe if it would be possible for my husband and our children to have their photo taken with the medals so we could give the photo as a gift for Christmas. Zoe agreed and we arranged a day and time. When arriving we were greeted by Zoe who was exceptionally clued up on the museum and the medals held there. Zoe and the museum went above and beyond to make sure we got some great photos and told us some amazing facts about the artefacts there. Our children found the experience fun and engaging. They were given an activity pack to complete on arrival which really made them acknowledge everything in the museum and learn along the way. Thank you to Zoe and The Green Howards museum for a truly wonderful day. We will absolutely be returning at some point in the future.

Paid a visit to Green Howards Museum on trip to Richmond Yorkshire. It is well worth a visit if you are interested in Richmonds military past. It had a D-Day section with it being June which was an added interesting bonus. It is situated in the Old Trinity Church in the main town square so cannot be missed.

Great visit. We have been here before, and they are even better. It is well laid out, logical progression if you go top floor first. Very interesting stuff, too many items for one visit. Staff are very friendly.
