There’s something about local museums…not only are they so important but they are an excellent place to visit to get a feel of local history. I think they also benefit from the enthusiasm of the volunteer staff. This museum is no exception…it really is a little gem in a beautiful town. Our admission cost £14 which we thought was really good value for money. The gentleman who greeted us was very knowledgeable about local history and made us feel very welcome. What surprised us was the actual size of the museum…it seems to go on forever! Take your time and work your way around all the rooms. Everything is displayed perfectly and there are some activities available for children. For “All creatures great and small” devotees, the original set has been recreated in the museum…you can almost hear Siegfried’s voice!! Museums like this one, rely on the support of the public so if you are in or around Richmond, so visit, I don’t think you will be disappointed. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and highly recommend this museum.

What a little find this is was. It’s such a sweet little place and you can tell that the exhibitions have been lovingly put together. It’s also a tardis as it’s far bigger than first impressions. It’s not a high tech museum and for us that made it all the more charming.

On a day out with my six year old niece we visited and both enjoyed it a lot. She was obsessed with finding all the brasses to rub while I enjoyed the history and learning about the different aspects to the older social activities of Richmond. I will return for a solo visit too because as soon as my niece finished the brass in one room she wanted to find the next lol.
