Much photographed famous cable suspension bridge
Our Oceania cruise ship sailed underneath the lit-up Golden Gate Bridge at 6:30am, just before a foggy sunrise. It was great to be on the deck in order to see the lights of the bridge outlining its towers and its length while also seeing the city lights ahead. It was exciting to watch the stack of the ship just clearing underneath the bridge. Not enough light for good photos so early in the morning though. Later the same day, our excursion coach stopped at Vista Point (WC facilities) on the Marin side of the bridge for a photostop which was a good place to view the traffic on the 6 lane bridge with walkers and bikers on both sides of the bridge's sidewalks. The bridge appears to be level, but does have a slight incline when viewed from the Marin side. Also, Bus 28 ($1.50 seniors) has a bus stop at the foot of the bridge on the city side with viewpoints, a Visitor's Center, WC, cafe. Both areas offer close-up views of the 2 reddish orange very tall Art Deco towers, its vertical cables, and its mile wide expanse across the strait. The area around Fisherman's Wharf might also be a good place to get long range photos of the bridge. The tolls for vehicles to cross this bridge (around $7) are payable only on the SF side of the bridge. We have seen copies of this bridge design in other places so it was refreshing to see the original design which inspired those copies.

    A great day…
Visited the bridge on our first day in San Francisco. Took the bus direct from Fisherman’s Wharf to the Welcome Centre. Weather was glorious so we walked across (avoiding the cyclists) to the viewing area on the other side. Wonderful views across the Bay. Took an Uber into Sausalito which was like a different world - a quaint fishing village where we had lunch in one of the many cafés/bakeries. Enjoyed an hour exploring the shops and harbour area before catching the ferry back across passing close to Alcatraz on the way. Would highly recommend!

Golden Gate Bridge-must get up close
You have to do this whilst in San Francisco don’t you! We walked there from Fisherman’s Wharf via other SF iconic landmarks and some hidden gems and then walked half way across the bridge and back and got the bus back. Great views of the city, bay and Alcatraz. Saw two helicopters fly under the bridge whilst we were there. Great experience.

    Timeless Beauty and Engineering Marve
The Golden Gate Bridge is an iconic marvel that seamlessly blends stunning architecture with breathtaking natural beauty. Completed in 1937, its distinctive orange hue against the Pacific Ocean backdrop makes for a captivating sight. Serving as both a vital transportation link and a symbol of San Francisco, the bridge is a must-see destination, offering a brief yet powerful experience of human ingenuity and scenic splendor.

The best place to visit in San Francisco
It's always been a bucket list wish for me to visit, walk or run the golden gate bridge. On a fine Monday morning I got my wish. Not the easiest place to get to from downtown (no direct BART) but the Muni bus goes there. I decided to run to the end and back. Monday morning a good time as it was quiet not much foot traffic. There is a dedicated cycle lane on the opposite side otherwise I ran the whole bridge in around 32 minutes (3.2 miles). Breath taking views of the bay. It's the first thing you should do when visiting Ssn Francisco.

    It’s the Golden Gate Bridge
It is a majestic bridge. We were very excited to see it for the first time. We took time to walk across about half of it. We only turned around due to the noise of the traffic. Recommend people to take the time and enjoy the views.

    Beautiful Thanksgiving Walk
What beautiful walk across the bridge. We had a beautiful sunny day, which helped. The bridge has always been on my bucket list, and it didn't disappoint. It's a lovely walk. It took us over 2 hours, but we were taking in all the views over the Bay, Alcatraz, and watching the surfers catching their waves. It wasn't too busy, considering it was Thanksgiving. There's food stalls at both ends of the bridge, and the information centre unfortunately it was closed.

    An American icon
We loved the view of San Francisco and Alcatraz and enjoyed the walk from one end to the other to Sausalito bay. Very worth a visit. Plan enough time. It took us almost an entire day to complete the walk but loved every part of it.

    Beautiful Iconic Bridge.
Wherever you go in San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge dominates the skyline. I rode over it on a Big Bus Tour, and if I wasn't unwell, I would have walked across it as I did 17 years ago. The bridge is really a feat of engineering, but has adapted well to the surrounding landscape.

First spot to visit Golden Gate Bridge
The Golden Gate Bridge Plaza is the best and most developed spot to see the iconic bridge in San Francisco.  The spot also provides amazing views of the San Francisco skyline, Alcatraz, and the Pacific Ocean.  A path from the trail leads down to the bottom of the bridge and Fort Point, a historic fort.  The visitor center provides historical information about the bridge as well as other tourist info about San Francisco.  The beautiful plaza area also has informative displays about the bridge construction and its history.  One of the more interesting displays is how and how much the bridge swings during winds.  After absorbing all this amazing information, it is time to take a walk on the bridge.  The Bridge Plaza is a convenient informative spot for a first time visit to Golden Gate Bridge.

San Francisco’s Chinatown is one of the largest Chinese enclaves outside Asia. The best time to visit is during Chinese New Year, when the area comes alive with a grand celebration. Enter through the much-photographed Dragon Gate and take your time to explore the winding back alleys. Don’t miss China Live, a multi-story building filled with shops, restaurants, bars, and a food demonstration hall. Before you leave, stroll down Grant Avenue, the main tourist thoroughfare lined with shops. Restaurants here get really crowded at dinnertime; reservations are highly recommended. – Tripadvisor
