    good ride
We took the buses where you tour the zoo, although we speak English, we took the tour in Spanish and it was very entertaining. Then we toured the place on foot on our own. I personally don't like zoos, but so many people told me this was one of the nicest ones that we took it and it didn't disappoint. You feel that the animals are well cared for, that the staff is pleasant and concerned. I recommend it. My 18-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son enjoyed it very much.

    Had fun, worth the trip.
We had a great time. We saw most of the animals. There is a lot of uneven terrain which can make it difficult for people with walking problems. There are wheel chairs and motorized chairs to rent. Plenty of food/drink/washrooms/souvenirs thru out the park. The volunteers were excellent to answer any questions. The zoo map was difficult to read. We were there all day and still didn't see everything. Make sure you have your ID handy if you want an alcoholic drink. Overall had fun but tired at the end of the day

    Extraordinary Zoo. But the fumes?
This really is an extraordinary zoo. It is so good to hear of the progress they are making to conserve flora and fauna from all over the world. It is an exciting chance to see a wide variety of plants and animals. The only negative is the fumes from the buses that travel throughout the park. The fumes can be pervasive. It's harmful to the humans and other animals nearby. That said, it is still one of my favorite places in San Diego. I go there about once a month.

    Fantastic Zoo
Hands down an excellent Zoo with amazing exhibits! We purchased the 2-Day Zoo pass to make sure we had ample time to see everything. Collectively, we spent 5-6 hours walking through and enjoying the animals. One thing we all enjoyed was the variety of habitats and we saw some animals never seen before. We do make it a point to visit zoos whenever we travel and we would not hesitate to return here!

    The Best Zoo
This zoo is great. The animals appear to be treated very well with impressive habitats. There is so much to see, so you can spend a lot of time there. The free aerial tram and buses are great to get around. Food and drink options are better then other zoos I’ve been to.

Loved getting to see the penguins, polar bears, and gorillas
This great zoo is located near downtown San Diego in Balboa Park. The 100-acre zoo contains many rare and endangered animals that you can view in their natural habitats. This is one of the largest zoos in America, and you can see just about every animal that exist, including some I had never even heard about. I would suggest taking the Guided Bus Tour upon your arrival to acquaint yourself with the various areas where you would like to spend more time. The tour bus, which winds through about three quarters of the zoo, has a guide who will help you learn more details about the animals. You can also take a ride on the Skyfari gondola lift, which will carry you from one side of the park to the other while you get to see the park from above. There are also some special tours and educational experiences you can book that will make your visit even more interesting. Wear good walking shoes and expect some steep inclines and a lot of foot traffic. There is enough to see that it will take the whole day, but at least plan to spend half a day to get the full experience. (PaM)

Amazing array of animals! Try to plan arrangement of which animals to see first.
The animals are great in natural habitat. Lots of fun walking through labyrinth paths to all animals. Need a full day there, for sure to see all/most. Do open air bus tour first to get oriented.

    Great place to visit
It was worth every penny. They have massive collection. Especially birds! But I felt it is well laid out zoo overall with many ways to watch the same animals. The zoo has a water park near the exit so prepare a kid’s swimsuit or another pair of clothes as well as a towel. Also, they bring out animals to watch closely, at 1 pm and 2 pm. There is also the skyline. You can take the small foldable stroller like a yoyo with you. It is only one way at a time and there is a decent line to get on. So if you think you will get on, just take the stroller with you. I didn’t know there was a water park and my daughter wanted to go in so bad. And my husband had to go back up through the skyline to get the stroller over back to me which was a hassle.

    Fun day at the zoo
We had an awesome day at the zoo! We bought value tickets good Monday-Thursday and it worked out really well. We took the tour around the zoo on the bus and rode Skyfari twice. We saw lots of animals and really enjoyed the day.

    Fantastic zoo
This zoo is amazing. Not only do they have wonderful exhibits but the surroundings and plantings are beautiful. There is something for everyone here. We spent the entire day here but if doing it again we would get a two day pass as we were not able to see everything. We would break it down into halves maybe and be able to see everything. The pandas had returned but the exhibit wasn't open yet so I am glad we saw them in DC last October. Do not miss this if in the area.
