Loved our 4 days on Gili T. Nice and laid back with some great restaurants and bars. Love the fact there is no motorised transport, horse & cart or cycles. Had a couple of days diving with Manta Dive (seperate review), cycled round the island (takes about an hour), see turtles while snorkeling in front of our hotel.Will definitely return.

Lovely place. Good diving sites. Good food, friendly people. Only problem is the mosque, because the prayer call is taking 10min-2h. They also read and call there everything. So its not quiet place to stay. I recommend more the Gili Meno. There is also very much rubbish wich is very sad.

Going downhill. This is my 4th visit to gili T, twice before covid and the earthquakes, and twice after. I would say I preferred it better before Covid times, I feel gili T has become way too busy and touristy and there is definitely a rubbish problem with a lot of the rubbish being burnt overnight. Prices have gone up, tacky foam party bars appearing on the west side of the island, lots more in construction that will change the face of the ‘ quiet ‘ side. I would say 80 percent of the visitors here are under 25, and that is def due to social media and instagram… Something def needs to be done regarding too many tourists here, it has changed so much since we first came in 2018! And not in a good way. It is almost like gili T is trying to be like kuta in Bali. A lot of the local people who run the little shops hate it. Will sadly be my last visit here… also, please walk and don’t use the horse and carts… that is what your legs are for… walking

Beautiful island and beaches, however this review pertains to a far more serious issue- We are a family of 4 with two kids 15 and 12. On our first day we were walking from back from the sunset to our hotel and a guy shouted out “marijuana for you guys”? From a corner shop! We were shocked We thought this was a one off but it happened several times in the streets over the next couple of days, most guys were selling something called mushroom. It’s sad to see this being done openly. I saw many bag packers walking into small shops and coming out with small paper or plastic bags. It’s supposedly a paradise for young adults who are bay packing and indulge in this kind of stuff. I know I am a party pooper for them but this is a shout out to all parents who know about their teens wanting to go to such places.

This is an Island where no motorised vehicles are allowed. So no noisy motorbikes or cars .. no industrial factories .. ergo no pollution. If one wishes to explore there's plain pedal cycles , quaint but brisk horse carriages and of course one's own two legs to walk around on . Lol .. it's a paradise for fruits seafood and good fresh food . This island runs on it's own laid back laws and maintains itself admirably as far as law and order goes . Like Bali there's no choking restrictions as usually exist in some societies and so tourists are freely able to enjoy themselves as they would anywhere in the world. Of course there's reasonable bounds of behaviour expected from visitors . So many pros and such few cons. The only 2 things I'd say they could improve is 1. Another couple of jetties for incoming tourist boats to tie up on . Currently their jetty is always overcrowded and that creates daily boat delays upto 30 minutes to an hour sometimes. 2. Streetlights from 2 kms outside the Trawangan market are not always functioning correctly and the pitch darkness is a bit dangerous for senior citizens walking to places for dinner and back . Other than that it's a GREAT place and I'll CERTAINLY return

The island offers a range of activities such as scuba diving, snorkeling, yoga, and cycling. The absence of motorized vehicles adds to its charm, and transportation is mainly by bicycle or horse-drawn carriage (cidomo). An island with many faces. The main street with its many restaurants and diving schools gives the perfect gili t atmosphere. The sunset side with its clubs are not my taste and I hope this atmosphere only stays on this side. The north side is quiet. So there is always something for everyone.

Gilli T was good but I think the quieter islands would have suited us better. As you arrive if you feel concern for the horses please make a small donation to Horses of Gilli (online) who are a not for profit that has improved the health of the horses especially the ones used as tourist taxis. But all the horses need to be regulated.

If you are visiting Lombok, a trip to Gili Trawangan should be in the itinerary. Doesn't matter if you come with family or group of young friends. It offers the majestic sunset views, fun in the sun along the beautiful beach with sea turtles, enjoying a nice cycle around the island as cars and motorbikes are not allowed, party by the beach for the ones who likes the night life or a quiet night by the beach with the stars. The waves here aren't very strong, so you won't be able to surf. If you are coming in a scooter, be sure to drive along the Senggigi coastal road for amazing view of the sea. Take the public ferry from Bangsal port. The ferry ride is only about 15-20mins idr23k. The ferry is not very packed even on the weekend so you don't need to pay extra for the private boats. There are plenty of garages that you can park your scooter overnight safely at idr10k. You can leave your helmets. Upon arriving gili trawangan island, if you have a lot of luggage, taking a horse cart maybe a good idea. Although the island is small, it is not that small either especially if your hotel is at the other side of the island. Alternatively, rent a bike for idr50k per 24hr. The best spot for sunset is sunset beach at the bottom tip of the island. You might even want to consider house rides during sunset. I know there are a lot of nice expensive cafes around. If you are a coffee addict like me, try Coffee & Thyme. Do try the warung for local food like lalapoe resto, warung lariz or pink warung kelapa. They are really good and inexpensive. Perhaps you want to watch a movie by the beach with a bottle of bintang at Aston Resort? This island is packed with activities to cater for all.

So... I put 3 stars like I could put 2 or 4 or 5... It's a weird island. It's beautiful and ugly at the same time. Quiet and both noisy. Festive and both authentic. Personally, loving the party and going out I loved the evenings in noise and dancing bars and nightclubs. I also liked the general atmosphere. There are great restaurants and great places to stay. At the same time, it is sad also because all this noise creates an unpleasant dynamic for the locals who still live as long ago and therefore not at all in line with the bustle of the island ... in short ... of the 3 c is by far the most alive to you to see
