Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
Eat, see, and stay in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Words can not express the beauty. I was not sure what to expect. When I walked in, I stopped in my tracks, my jaw dropped and I was in awe!
It was not crowded at all. I was surprised. We used our Museum Pass to get in. No waiting. We were not there long, maybe 45 minutes? We just looking...
"City Wonders Limited through Viator - Notre Dame Skip the line"
reviewed 1 week ago by Jenny L
One of the best tours we have been involved with. Avi was informative, engaging and entertaining. We moved along at a measured pace enjoying his wealth of knowledge about the Ille de la Cite and in particular Notre Dame. The climb to the top of the bell tower is always worth the effort, providing a close up of the structure...
While visiting Paris in July, my partner and I set aside an hour one morning to experience and see The Memorial to the Martyrs of the Deportation.” It is the French Memorial dedicated to the 15 to 20 million Jewish people whose lives where ruined, tortured, stolen and ultimately brutally ended through starvation and sickness, gunshots and execution style killing,...

"Delicious food, friendly service, air conditioning "
reviewed 5 days ago by Nathalie K
Though a bit on the pricier side, the food is refined and delicious.
The staff is friendly.
The restaurant is small so you may not always find seating, but if you do, the room is air conditioned which is a nice change in Paris, in the summer heat, after hours of sightseeing.
"Best ice cream in France--a must visit while traveling in Paris"
reviewed yesterday by Rhett L
Wow, this is some great ice cream with many flavors and great prices in the heart of France. The original Berthillon has an ice cream/dessert shop, cafe, and restaurant...all next to each other. Many other ice cream shops in Paris serve Berthillon ice cream as well. Give it a try while in Paris.
First time visit place dauphine based on me before you movie and found this restaurant. The waiters very friendly and when we eat the food are delicious too. Everything that we order are delicious. C’est tres bien!
After a recommendation from Guest Apartment services I dropped in for lunch, without a reservation. I was seated quickly and warmly welcomed into this charming, busy bistro.
I ordered white fish with beans which came served in a tasty broth with the pulses floating in the broth. The fish was cooked perfectly -this dish was so delicious, I scraped my...
There are few experiences better than returning to the Île St. Louis over the bridge at the back of Notre Dame after a full day out in Paris and feeling "home". The Hotel de Lutece on the Île St. Louis feels like that to us. We have stayed here on three separate trips.
The lobby is quaint, the elevator small,...
I have found over the years that Paris has many hidden gems, and this hotel is one of them. Discretly positioned at 54 rue saint-louis en l'île, behind an ancient 17th century solid oak door. Once inside you enter a world of calm, tranquility and understated elegance. The staff are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and attentive, regularly going "above and beyond"...
If you're looking for a boutique hotel in Paris the Hotel Saint-Louis en l'Isle is an excellent choice. It is less than a 15-minute walk to Notre Dame, on a quiet one-way street with virtually no noise at night. There are many restaurants in the area. Breakfast was excellent without being lavish. Rooms were a bit snug but OK. They...
This is in such a great street right in the heart of the Ile. Our room was not very big but these buildings are many centuries old. Lift worked , wifi fine, bathroom very good and the staff willing to help with anything eg. printing out a couple of emails for us with no charge.
This hotel is in the center of Paris, on Place Nôtre Dame. Ok, it is not cheap, and it is fairly run-down, but oh what a location. Visit Google Earth to see the lush center courts, so nice to calm down after a day of walking in the city of light. Because walking you will do. Everything is so near...
