The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the centre of Paris this neighbourhood has something for every hour of the day.
As a lover of Paris parks for many years, this is a another option for a perfect picnic as well as being great for just wandering about and enjoying a nature break from the hustle of Paris or for taking a more determined power walk. It is one of the parks and legacies of Haussmann and another great tribute to...
We climbed to the top of Pantheon, Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower and Sacre-Coeur, but this was by FAR the best views of Paris! We went at night and had fantastic views of the Eiffel Tower during the light show. It was also very nice that the place wasn't crowded at all. A must do when visiting Paris! It is...
Saw the movie As Above So Below and wanted to check out the Catacombs since then (avoid watching the movie btw!) :))
Eerie but very historic and amazing to see, the amount of bones and skulls that are laid out here are incredible, miles and miles through tunnels of human remains. The history of this place is astounding. Definitely get...
The building itself is interesting but not of a great beauty. But it is very functional in terms of light, airconditioning and accessibiity. There is enough staff for questions and control, all very friendly. If there is an interesting exhibition: just go there. And enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, also of the surrounding area.
Dined solo at Sourire Le Restaurant in December 2017 based on TA reviews. Enjoyed a five course tasting menu for 65E with matching wines 34E. Each course was delicious and the service was attentive. The restaurant is in the 13th and although away from the main areas of Paris, I would recommend dining here.
We absolutely love this restaurant! We dined here last year for my husbands birthday and loved it so much we made a point of celebrating there again this year. The service is very enjoyable and the food is superb.
Ate here for lunch with 2 couples... as recommended by our (French) Segway tour guide. We were the only ones there at ~2pm. Sat outside in street at quant table. Absolutely amazing food... all cooked fresh. Gazpacho, fresh fish, wine... perfect afternoon! Loved hospitality by the French owner & his wife. Thank you both!!!
Plan on spending 150.00 plus in the evening for 2. We had Scallops over veggies for the main course and cheesecake with raspberry sauce for dessert. The raspberry sauce was tart and delicious.
2 glasses of wine each and water.
Friendly owner and staff.
We had a lovely dinner here outdoors. Food and ambiance was excellent. Eric was very friendly and accommodating. Spoke very little english but was very to communicate in french with him. Definitely recommend this restaurant.
Loved this place. Normally stay at another Hotel but Mistral will be my choice of stay from now on. The greeting from the very lovely Nina was welcomed after a long trip from Australia. Clean, comfortable and a wonderful place to stay in Paris.
We loved hotel le royal for our first stay in Paris. It was close to the subways and easy to get around if you bought a subway pass. There were plenty of restaurants to walk to and the morning breakfast was always delicious. Would stay here again!
Reality exceeded expectation in this bijoux gem of a hotel. The manager at the front desk was 'charmant' and very informed, interested and exceptionally obliging, full of useful tips and recommendations.
The room itself was compact, but extremely comfortable, the bed, particularly so! The adjoining bathroom with neat shower was cleverly designed to maximise space yet still be efficient. Though...
Very pleasant 'boutique' style hotel offering great value for money. Well located in the area of Montparnasse with two Metro stations within short walking distance. Rooms are comfortable and practical and very nicely appointed. Would recommend without hesitation
