The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the centre of Paris this neighbourhood has something for every hour of the day.
Lovely park to sit down and relax in. Always seemed to be bustling with activity. We saw Shetland pony rides and wedding groups and many joggers during our visits. One day a band played classical music in the pavilion and everyone sat on the grassy hill and watched.
Being a rainy day, we chose to visit the Catacombs, leaving the walking tours for better weather. I did not expect a waiting time of 1 hour and 15 minutes, which is far longer than what I waited at other much popular landmarks in Paris, Rome or London.
The catacombs are interesting both as an ossuary and as a historical...
Dined solo at Sourire Le Restaurant in December 2017 based on TA reviews. Enjoyed a five course tasting menu for 65E with matching wines 34E. Each course was delicious and the service was attentive. The restaurant is in the 13th and although away from the main areas of Paris, I would recommend dining here.
On an overnight stay in Paris we had no knowledge of the local restaurants in Montparnasse and after wandering around in the rain we settled for the nearest to our hotel,. In a little side street we found Cobea a pleasant modern interior but only had a 6 or 8 course tasting menu. We chose the 6 just as well...
Tiny restaurant with simple /clean decoration. Went with a Korean & Spanish friend and we absolutely love it!!! Service was quick and discreet, menu is small but selection is perfect. Get ready to eat fried food though! :)
There are countless great restaurants in Paris but this whole in the wall stood out on our recent trip. We were headed to the catacombs and were deterred by the line. Thus we decided to do what we did every day - and had a 2 hour lunch instead.
We caught the end of the lunch hour and we’re the...
Excellent accommodations with the staff going beyond expectations to help us!! Having umbrella available on the rainy days was a very nice and thoughtful feature. The front desk was especially helpful with directions and obtaining taxis for us. Thank you!!!!!
Mon hotel préferé a Paris :I like staying in Aiglon due to its location but also thanks to the very nice stuff.Always feeling at home independent if I come for business or leisure purposes. Merci et a bientot!
Its sort of a boutique hotel with small rooms. ideal for friends to stay. Rooms are small and cosy. The service, hygiene, food, ambience is lovely. In addition to the eating area, there are tiny balcony to chill in passage around rooms. Little affordable and safe place in expensive Paris.
My husband and I booked the Standard Double Room for four nights in May 2018. It was the cutest hotel! We very much enjoyed our stay. We had an adorable room with ample space. The bathroom was large with counter space. Amenities that were included were a hair dryer, shampoo/body gel combo, hand soap, and lotion. There were no washcloths,...
The hotel is stylish, clean and excellent value for money. It is simply somewhere to sleep however it is well located close to the metro and very well organised. I would recommend to anyone in Paris for a short stay.
