Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
Lazaro Galdino is another Spanish artist. This Museum contains many other items besides a collection of his paintings. The most notable sections are the Treasury and the Armoury. The Triptych of The Nativity by Garcia Del Barco is one of the most noticeable paintings.

"An important monument"

When young I lived at Calle Alcala and would see this magnificent triumphal arch often on my way to Retiro Park. So you can also. It is one of the oldest post roman arches in Europe including Paris and Berlin. So it is in very good company and can be said to be a standout. Worth taking a look at....
When planning our trip to Madrid, Etimo seemed like the ideal candidate for a splurge dinner, and it was. Reviews led us astray a bit in that the restaurant is NOT as vegetarian-friendly as some reviews made it out to be—they can work with you, but it's a fixed menu, so often their vegetarian solution is just to eliminate the...
Of the best restaurants I've been in a long time. Spectacular food (we ordered a couple of starters and tuna for main course - highly RECOMMENDED, and do not forget to order dessert, the millefeuille and the chocolate mousse left us wanting more!), The atmosphere is super nice and the best, without a doubt, is the staff attention, not only...
We chose this place based on reviews from TripAdvisor and would truly recommend this place. We were welcomed by the owner and chef and looked after the the waiting staff superbly. There was no menu but each time the food arrived we were more than pleasantly surprised. The menu changes but the highlights for us were the garlic soup, veal...
Excellent lunch within an informal setting. You can tell there are two experienced chefs in the kitchen, each plate was rich in flavour and nicely presented. Very happy with the broccoli skews and the calamaris. We will be back
Small casual restaurant serving delicious small dishes made mostly of innards: liver, kidney, tongue, tripe of pig, beef and lamb. The show piece is the head of a piglet, roasted at low temperature for 2 hours and then deep fried. Good bread, wine and desserts.
An option of those not wanting innards is a delicious ceviche made with Corvina .
Such a lovely hotel and amazing staff. Personal attention, amazing upgrade. We are very excited for our return stay next week. We would highly recommend this hotel. We are constantly looking for comfort and value and this place fit the bill.
We stayed at the Petit Palace. Both Hotel and Location were outstanding. The neighborhood is amazing anything from restaurants, shopping, and bars. Accessing to everything is easy by either walking or public transportation.
And the hotel is great. Breakfast is served by trending restaurants right now which is connected to the hotel.
The hotel is one of a kind in the beautiful Salamanca district. Service is excellent. Will certainly book the hotel again. The restaurant of Ramon Freixa at Hotel Unico is a unique and wonderful experience.
The hotel is in a very nice area of Madrid in the business region but walkable to the main attractions in the city. Bus trips are very reasonable as are taxis and the hop on hop off bus does a very good deal for 48 hours. There is a huge amount of building work being done in the centre of...
Spent 3 nights in this hotel in late September.
Absolutely gorgeous hotel. The room was amazing, top quality. The staff were so polite, helpful and friendly and always wanted to impress. We dined for breakfast only and that was really beautiful.....didn't get the opportunity to dine for lunch or in the evening time. The location here is really good, only...
