Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
"Revered Monument to the fallen in battles ancient and modern"

Evocatively placed at the foot of the former Royal Palace it is guarded by the Evzones, an elite unit but nowadays ceremonial in nature.
Greece has had an extraordinarily long documented history of battles and wars and the fine memorial refers to many in the modern era, from Balkan wars to post WWII engagements.
The central figure of the fallen...
This is the central square of Athens and is located across from the parliament building and home to a subway stop. It is a happening place at all times of the day, but must be visited at night. When we visited Athens from 12/13 – 12/18 it was decorated in Christmas finery. In the center of the square is a...
Went for our daughter's 18th and couldn't have made a better choice. Right in the middle of Athens, staff was very attentive right from the beginning and everything we ordered was designed to accelerate your taste buds. Thank you once again for everything!
The ice cream here is absolutely amazing! Dare I say #1 in Athens!
We had a delightful rose water soft serve ice cream. They also have an amazing candyfloss surrounded cone that is very photogenic!
Our server Stéphanos was also very friendly.
What can I say about this place? It's nearly perfect. It offers high quality sushi for a reasonable price, the setting is like a real Japanese sushi bar, the chef Antonis Drakoularakos works in front of you. The only thing I would recommend is that the wine list could be bigger (4-5 labels more would be great).
All in all,...
Simply brilliant from start to finish and the hotel staff could not have been more efficient, helpful, prompt and courteous.
Starting with location is ideally situated right in the center of everything and is walk able to all the main attractions in Athens. It is pedestrian street (although cars will attempt to go up it) so despite being central it...
I was booked to go to Athens, like many others, and was going to stay at InnAthens.Due to the virus, unfortunately,I was unable to travel,I didn't have it but travel restrictions etc meant it would have been irresponsible of me to travel.I just wanted to say thankyou to the hotel for taking the time to phone me and offer a refund.Excellent service,I know...
I stayed two times in this amazing hotel which in CENTRE of Athens near from all attractions and facing the Greek Parliament. Rooms are very luxury . One of the best luxury collection in Greece . Team is friendly . Suitable for all kinds of clientele
Everything here was first rate. Above all the view of the Acropolis from the seventh story restaurant. Staff is superb. When we had to exit in crisis mode following the Europe Travel Proclamation, we had dedicated help figuring out what to do and how to get to the airport record time. We were sorry to have to leave so soon....
Great room, clean, modern layout, close to attractions. I would recommend this place! Just hated every place they recommend for food. So do your own research. I asked 3 people at the front desk for food options and stores and they all could not help me 🤷♂️ or they sent me places I did not like at all
