Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
Picturesque old town square, classic of old towns across europe. Beautiful small cafes and restaurants in the square as well as the Noble Museum. We were here in winter so didn't stay for long, and was a short walk found the corner from the Royal Palace.
This is a functioning Lutheran church which people have clearly forgotten, given the sign outside exhorting tourists to wait until services are finished. Inside, it's surprisingly brightly decorated, given its Lutheran origins.

One of Stockholm’s best restaurant. A small place that have a limited but really nice menu paired with a truly fantastic wine selection. Many months they also bring special wine selections from different countries. Don’t miss place!

I have just had the most excellent evening at the Hairy Pig. Not only was the beer selection amazing.... OMG..... but the food! .... OMG. If you don't come here you are completely mad! This is a real post!! I am not linked to the place in any way but tonight was exactly what I needed. Can't wait to come...
Always full, this place has a very cool viking era vibe to it. Be sure to check out some of the local alcohol. Great ambience and some nice live music too!
The service is friendly and nice, though overworked.
This was unexpectedly great, like a step back in time - exactly what you want when visiting Old Town! We chose this place over the Hairy Pig restaurant on the other side of Gamla Stan because this was more quaint & cozy - and it sure was cozy (about the size of your bedroom). Make sure you have reservations, this...
"Best location in Stockholm with all the charm you can ask for"

If you hate the off the mill hotel chain rooms, where all the room has the same cold, impersonal interior all over the world, this is the place to stay. Plenty of quirky charm, in the rooms and elsewhere. A little worn off, but even that fit the hotel. The staff solve all your request in an easy and matter...
Excellent town house hotel very conveniently located right in the centre of the old town. Very comfortable, good breakfast and great staff who made it feel like a home from home. We stayed just one night as travelling on the next morning but would be perfect for a longer break .
We stayed in the 1 bedroom Lady Hamilton apartments which is just around the corner but run by the hotel. We were welcomed by 2 ladies who helped us walk our luggage to the apartment. We stayed with our 20 month old toddler. The apartment was a decent size, with lots of places to sit. Shower was good pressure. Room...
Clean, cosy, generally lovely little hotel. Perfect location in Gamla Stan. Clean, well presented. Near to train station, loads of lovely restaurants and shops. Breakfast was great, plenty of choice, vegetarian, vegan, gluten free. Meats, pastries, cereals etc too. My only caution is that Stockholm is EXPENSIVE! Average spend of £120 for a 2 course dinner with a couple of...
I have never ever slept in a hotel room that small. But unless you plan to stay in the room for your whole trip what does that matter. Staff was very friendly and the location is excellent. The whole hotel is only six meters wide. The breakfast was of course also small (it would be impossible to fit a huge...
