Take the ferry to the inner west suburb of Balmain and be enchanted with this picturesque and eclectic waterside area. A stroll down Darling Street will take you on a tour of coffee shops, boutique delicatessens and shops offering wholefood products and organic cuisines. Yoga studios abound, and live music emanates from the hotels at night. As the place where the Australian Labor Party formed in 1891, Balmain has commonly been known for its “working class culture”. It has evolved into a health-conscious heaven with a laid back attitude, offering one of the most vibrant food and bar scenes in Sydney.
Balmain is a different suburb from when I lived here for many years, so much more apartment building but this is one of the better parts that has remained a constant. A lovely relaxing park with great views of the Parramatta River and close to Darling Street and the Dawn Fraser Pool.
This park on Darling Street extends back to the hospital which is convenient if you are attending the facility to visit or pickup. The park is a nice and relaxing green space with good seating and plenty of shade. It has a convenient bus stop at the Darling Street entrance to the park.
The Captain Adam was amazing, he had great knowledge of fishing and answered all of my questions. I don't do well on the sea, he reassured me that the trip would be safe and went over all of my concerns. Our group had a fun day and we all had a chance to have a go. we caught quite a...
I can not recommend highly enough Flagship cruises, the Commissioner ll and Kylie . We came to Sydney to watch the Ashes and as we were going to be here over new year decided to do something special. From start to finish our booking was handled professionally and promptly. All queries were answered effectively and detailed info for the evening...
I visited the Newtown spa for a warm bamboo massage fr m Gabriela and what an absolute treat! The rooms are lovely with a peaceful, nurturing ambience and Gabriela’s greeting put me immediately at ease- and then she began! I get massages quite often but have to say this is possibly my favorite experience in terms of both a sense...
The atmosphere in this place is awesome. Flamenco dancers were outstanding. The food was above par and the paella was lovely. Set in a back alley of Balmain you really get the south American feel.
Staff were polite and quick to take your order whatever it may be.
Lovely Victorian cafe - perfect laid back atmosphere for lazy weekend brunches. The weekend sharing plates with unlimited bread and Turkish tea doesn't dis-appoint. Its a spectacular mix of bread, cheeses , dips, fruit and Turkish sausage/omelette.
and yes- it does taste as great as it looks. Even though I personally love spicy food and there isnt much spice on...
A fabulous place to share wine and food with friends this popular spot served up two delicious meals to us. Not overly fussy, my meal focused on good flavor supported by friendly informed staff.
Worth a visit
Best Thai food I've ever eaten, the combination of flavours are amazing yet you can still taste the individual flavours. Even the coconut turmeric rice was to die for.
Friendly yet unobtrusive service, the meals came out quite quickly even though the restaurant was almost full. Highly recommended.
It´s perfect place for enjoy with friends. The hotel is located in the best famous street in Balmain. This place is close for everything, transports, supermarkets, a lot of stores and boutiques. Easy to go and back.
