While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
Best to visit as part of a tour which will get around long waiting times to get in. Tour operators best to explain the history and its present use. There are quite a number of temples within the compound which are very interesting. It is extremely busy with tourists so need to allow plenty of time to see everything.
The Grand Palace is spectacular. The entire complex is one of its kind in the world. Within the Palace Complex are several impressive buildings, among them Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), which contains the small, very famous and greatly revered Emeral Buddha - dating to 14th Century. This is the most holly temple in Bangkok. The entire...

This was a different experience if not for us. Rows of beautiful Buddha images sitting layed out around the temple structure surrounding the main hall.
The surrounding of the main hall was under construction the time we were there but entry was still permitted.
The interior can only be described as Amazing. the drawings and carvings on the walls throughout...
Charming small chic restaurant patronised by young-ish hipsters in the know. Delicious food at very reasonable prices. Sits in a row of similar looking cafes not far from the Reclining Buddha. This area that runs alongside the still working riverside warehouses is also well worth looking around.
Uber cool warehouse environment and terrific food served by friendly staff at very reasonable prices.
Worth going to not just for this restaurant but also to wander around the surrounding up and coming urban chic riverside area containing many interesting looking cafes and restaurants, (in all price ranges), alongside lots of fascinating market and warehouse life.
We found this restaurant as a top-rated one near Wat Pho, and were extremely impressed! For being right next to the major tourist attractions, this is as authentic as it gets; absolutely delicious food, and great service!!
We came 5 person. Sita were available after 3 mins of waiting. We ordered fried noodles with chicken, large noodles with calamari and rice w vegetables. Each dish was 5 stars of 5 possible. All costed us 300 bats. Any question? ;) Strongly recommend to everyone kin of fine Thai dishes.
Loved it here! Quirky place with a wonderful heart. Wonderful people running the hotel - so friendly and helpful, such a fun vibe from both staff and other guests, cute decor and amazing breakfast. Highly recommended!
Hotel is well located, staff is really helpful, breakfast could be improve. We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in December, we had a very nice room with river view. Amenities in the room could be improve.
I'm currently staying at this hotel. When I booked I was looking for something that wasn't too far from Khao San area, as I have a tour of Asia starting from there soon, and also offered some of the comforts of a hotel (rather than a hostel) without breaking the bank.
Definitely ticks both boxes, good value for money and...
Advantages of our stay: Close to Banglamphu market, from a noisy street it is inside to a peaceful area. Extremely large bed and very very helpful staff, we got help with the taxi as this can be a little issue concerning the negiation of prices. Disadv: Our room was looking at a wall of another building (just pay a little...
Highly recommend the hotel.
Good sized rooms with air condition that actually works!
The bar and restaurant is excellent.
Close to Ko San Road other local bars, restaurant and convenience stores.
You Won’t be disappointed.
