Ipanema is considered Rio's crown jewel. It offers the best view of the sunset from Arpoador and is inspiration for the legendary song, “The Girl from Ipanema.” Ipanema is an upscale area, home to many high-end restaurants and luxury shops, many of which can be found on the charming Garcia d'Ávila Avenue. The neighbourhood is very rich culturally, housing many art galleries that show contemporary art. There is also a great variety of nightlife in the neighbourhood, which buzzes with many options for every taste.
I thought Ipanema beach was actually nicer than Copacabana. The landscape of the mountains in the distance is very dramatic, the sand is beautiful and there are good waves on the beach. We really enjoyed our time here.

This statue was erected in 2014 on the 20th anniversary of Tom Jobim’s death at the age of 67 in New York. We encountered it on a walk along Ipanema Beach.
It is just a statue. Not worth going out of your way to see.
For those like myself who love the arts and culture, don't miss out on this cultural space. It offers an art gallery, a bookshop, a cafe and a cinema. The films shown in the cinema are generally interesting, European productions and also independent films of Brazil and other nations. The ambience is pleasant and tranquil. The admittance and the food are...
We have visited this museum twice (on both our trips to Rio) and we highly recommend it to people who are interested in fine jewelry and gemstones. The actual mining displays are very interesting, but the gems steal the show! The colors and size of the stones displayed are amazing and they are all beautiful. Once you have toured the...

We were recommended this little place by a Local brazilain friend. It’s a cute little restaurant with a great vibe. We sat on the ground floor at a table and enjoyed Sangria and the wonderful healthy and flavorful food. The chicken curry was to die for and my friend had the quinoa bowl. Don’t feel touristy and was comfortably priced....
"Rancho Português" is one of the best Portuguese restaurants of Rio de Janeiro. No doubt about it! But, and there is always a but ... A second visit to any venue may be somehow disappointing. And that was the case. Unfortunately. The privileged location, the awesome Portuguese "Vista Alegre" china, the shining cutlery, the outstanding wine menu, the competent and...
My vegan daughter and I (a vegetarian) had the most wonderful experience at Teva tonight. We received a warm welcome at the door that continued throughout our meal. Our adorable waiter spoke English well enough to make sure we had everything we wanted and right on time. We started with a pitcher of white sangria and slowly worked our way...

We stayed for 4 nights on our recent trip. The hotel is in a great location, convenient to the beach and to the subway. And we felt very safe - we walked everywhere in the adjacent area even until 9PM. The hotel amenities are excellent; good wifi, nice breakfast, and modern room, all for a very reasonable price. The staff...

Located walking distance from both copacabana beach and ipanema beach. We felt safe in the neighborhood. Restaurants and shopping in vicinity. Interesting to see people on the road dressed up heading to the carnival.
Hotel clean, rooms spacious, good breakfast, staff friendly though registration was bit slow, they opened restaurant early for us on our departure. Recommend this place.
Couldn't get a better location for enjoying Ipanema beach, the room was clean and very adequate, but not huge, the breakfast buffet was absolutely divine. Next trip to Rio I will definitely stay here again. It is RIGHT ON. tHE BEACH! The outdoor cafe is great for people and beach watching
