Ipanema is considered Rio's crown jewel. It offers the best view of the sunset from Arpoador and is inspiration for the legendary song, “The Girl from Ipanema.” Ipanema is an upscale area, home to many high-end restaurants and luxury shops, many of which can be found on the charming Garcia d'Ávila Avenue. The neighbourhood is very rich culturally, housing many art galleries that show contemporary art. There is also a great variety of nightlife in the neighbourhood, which buzzes with many options for every taste.
This beach is more like a rocky area from where lots of people are gathering to see the sun dissapearing in the back of Dos Irmaos. When I arrived here just before the sunset lots of people were already on the rocks trying to find the best view point. The sunset during a clear day is absolutely amazing and I...

This is a nice statue celebrating Tom Jobim who was famous as the composer who wrote the popular Bossa Nova song "Garota de Ipanema" (The Girl from Ipanema) in the 1960's with his poet friend Vinicius de Moraes. Jobim died in a New York hospital in December 1994 and was flown back to Rio de Janeiro for burial.
For those like myself who love the arts and culture, don't miss out on this cultural space. It offers an art gallery, a bookshop, a cafe and a cinema. The films shown in the cinema are generally interesting, European productions and also independent films of Brazil and other nations. The ambience is pleasant and tranquil. The admittance and the food are...
We have visited this museum twice (on both our trips to Rio) and we highly recommend it to people who are interested in fine jewelry and gemstones. The actual mining displays are very interesting, but the gems steal the show! The colors and size of the stones displayed are amazing and they are all beautiful. Once you have toured the...
Amazing code plates in several different options. Very large portions, poor selection of beers tough... appetizers are great, code and potato fried "bolinhos" is a must. Decoration take us to Portugal with no stop. And the food is great, I emphasize that!
This is the best of French cuisine in Rio. Chef David Jobert is also charming . You see him at work and he drops by the tables to speak to guests. This was the first time a restaurant called me to check if I was coming!!!! They were totally booked.

I had lunch here on my first day during my holiday in Rio. I had a mojito and a chicken curry cooked with banana and cashew (served with rice). The restaurant appears to be in an old house. The mojito was as good as the ones I get in Miami. The chicken curry was a creative dish given the Brazilian...
Delírio usually has a line at the door. You can grab the menu right there (they offer an english version) or go straight to the buffet. You can order salad, meat, dessert by portion and they will serve you. You pay before leaving the place.
Great place for a quick lunch at Ipanema, very close to the beach. They do...
"Great service at check in and in the main restaurant. The service at the pool needs improvement."

This was the fifth time I've stayed at the Fasano. The hotel is beautiful and the location is great. The front desk staff is wonderful, very responsive. The restaurant/bar is really fun at night and the breakfast is great. The pool is one of the nicest pools I've been to and the views are breathtaking. While we were there we...
A classy boutique style hotel with lovely rooms. A relatively short walk to the beaches. Nice breakfast. Staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. I would recommend this hotel for visiting the Copacaban/Ipanema area, although it isn't on the beach it offers a very high quality of service and comfort at a slightly more affordable price than beachfront accommodation.
Stayed with wife for 3 nights. Great location very close to the Ipanema beach. Staff very friendly and helped us with info, etc. The rooms are clean with everything we needed (safe, etc.). Also great breakfast at the Quitera Restaurant which is adjacent to the hotel and has door connection with the hotel.
The only down side is that rooms...
Arena Ipanema is a very good hotel! The bedrooms could be a little bigger as well aas the closet, but they have excelent beds and the shower is fantastic!! The amenities are from NATURA!!
The staff is extremely helpful and friendly!
The room cleanliness could be improved and the hotel could think about advertising more on how to get to...
Helpful staff, wonderful outdoor cafe` out back, just off the Ocean. The rooms are small, though nice and clean, with an ample - sized bathroom. Breakfast included. My only complaint is that there is no gym .
