When running your own business, there is little time left for private. Many years, I’ve travelled the world for a boss, now I do it for me.
I do check and compare, as we pay a certain sum of hardly earned money, we have the right to be treated well and get an equivalent in return.
It has to be authentic with genuine local experiences at the adequate pricing (no fly by night), very clean, with sincere interest in the hosts and the cuisine has to surprise me in various ways and be different to what I cook.
I'm critical with myself; I tend to be the same with others. I bring my constructive points first to the owner/manager. Most problems can be solved when people have a sense for fairness and an interest in come-backs and a long lasting relation. I don’t ask for the impossible and don't mind to pay an extra for good returns/values, but I dislike with a passion "wanna be's", to be taken for a ride, poor and unhealthy food, dirty places, bad services and grumpy staff.
