We ate tonight in this place and we spent a very good time there. We ordered muffin with smoked ham and salmon bellini as appetizer; smoked haddock and rice with shrimps as main course. At the end we enjoyed 2 great desserts: 1 brownie and 1 extravaganza (A plate with brownie, ice cream and cheesecake). The waitresses were very gentle,... More

Two couples had lunch in the restaurant - 2 courses for £10. From stepping through the door, the service and food was faultless. Highly recommend ......... we throughly enjoyed it and will be returning soon. Thank you.

This was our first visit but it has been recommended to us by neighbours and friends. It did not disappoint. A friendly welcome and our drinks order taken at the Bar. We settled at a table in the bar rather than the restaurant for no other reason that a table was available and it was a cosy atmosphere. We were... More

We visited the restaurant on a Monday lunchtime. The restaurant itself works very well combining the original old inn with a very tasteful extension. We had the special menu which was two courses for £10 Great value for money and very well presented. We sat in the old part of the restaurant in front of a roaring fire, just right... More

This is a dog friendly place with a small area where dogs could go. Staff lovely and attentive. I had liver which was lovely and a huge portion, my partner had gammon, again well cooked and good size portion. We were offered desserts due to a slight problem with the meal (foreign object in food), the staff were very apologetic... More

We went here with our familyfor my husbands birthday. The food was delicious and the pub and restuarant are charming. However the service is rather in the slow side, so slow when it came to the deserts we gave up and had our coffee and cheese and biscuits at home. Booking is essential and it is worth a visit, but... We really like this hotel, we have stayed several times, but if you phone with a query, they openly tell you that are too busy to answer queries as they are serving breakfast, or lunch, or dinner ! or " can you call back", they never confirm bookings by email or phone unless you ask for it..even then it is... My wife and I decided to make our Saturday shopping trip to Tesco a little different by including a lunch at The Cook & Barker. It really made our day! The place itself is a cosy pub, with a hotel, in beautiful surroundings. For most folk, it will involve a drive out but it really is worth it. Meals can... More

Popped in here to have lunch first week in January and what a great find. Very welcoming and friendly staff and the Mon-Fri lunch menu was fantastic, 2-course lunch for £10! Considering the choices included pheasant and Sea Bass and very nicely presented, I think this was a steal, no wonder the place was busy even in early January. If... More
