who did everything right - but even she couldn’t Perform the miracles that would have been necessary about the dreadful, poor quality, pre-cooked and cold, UNAUTHENTIC! Greek food my sisters and I had last night. I live in Collingwood and had been to this restaurant...several times in the past, admittedly pre-Covid, and had only excellent memories so when my visiting sisters said they loved the idea of authentic Greek food more than all of the other choices we had in The Village, that’s where we decided to go and we all share the same opinion about our experience. We had decided to share four “appetizer” dishes, none of which were under $20 including a very drab very ordinary flavourless salad and the other 3 appetizers were between $24 and $28, Three of which should have been served hot and freshly prepared. Of the four dishes the only one that was only sort of OK and prepared freshly was the deep fried calamari and even at that it was nothing special and was served with very thick tsatsiki which Had only the merest teensiest hint of any cucumber or garlic - In other words thick Greek yoghurt and no other dips for the calamari. Though we had been asked how we wanted the loin lamb chops, they came out way too well done, scrawny and tough. Jesse got us a new order and even though these had been supposedly freshly cooked they had no flavour and the meat was again very poor quality lamb - tough, thin, sinewy and chewy, And just very poor quality and cut. When I had had them a couple years ago they were nice thick thick perfect -and perfectly cooked - little lamb lollypops, i.e., that is, right off of a rack of lamb - and all meat, no gristle or fat! The grilled octopus came with two reasonably generous-sized tentacles, rather over-cooked but cold when we got it, the first one of which was so tough it was hard to chew, the second one underneath when we got into it we found was actually much more tender and flavourful but again served cold even though it’s advertised as “grilled octopus” Which anyone would assume is a hot dish. The Greek salad was mostly Romain lettuce with barely a trace of onion or cucumber and for that matter the tomato and feta cheese was not exactly generous relative to the size of the salad and the amount of lettuce, either. also the dressing which was OK with simply drizzled on the top leaves - we had to ask for more dressing just so that all that lettuce might have some flavour! And it came with no Kalamata olives at all and Jesse very kindly got a few for us when we mentioned it. Of course, we were hungry and managed to make our way through the majority of it, but only very grudgingly! HORRIBLE and disappointing in the extreme. OH! And a supposedly Greek authentic restaurant had as it’s special last night English style fish and chips - go figure.More
