Had lunch there March 3, 2020. Must say we were very disappointed in the carrot soup. First of all the soup bowl was 1/3 full, a very meagre serving for the $10 price. The cumin taste was overwhelming and tasted as if it had just...been sprinkled into the soup. The server / owner said nothing and showed no sincere interest when he asked me if we liked everything. When he cleared our dishes he did not notice or comment on my unfinished potion. The hamburger, salad and homemade chip platter was very good but pricy at $20. Hudson will be a regular stop on our drives to Montreal. We are always looking for small, well prepared food for interesting lunch stops. Guess we will keep looking in Hudson.More

Being for few days around, we had a super nice dinner in Carambola. Local food, vegetables from the season arranged in a very creative way. It is a BYOB which allows to limit the bill. They even help you to find the best match with...the dishes. The oysters were amazingly fresh and the slow cooked veal was super delicious. I would recommend and come back at a next opportunity. Thanks for the nice evening!More

Hubby and I went to Carambola after hearing very good things about it and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, the service rapid and very friendly (thank you Kathy). We appreciate the bring your own wine option and the casual feeling about the...place. Already looking forward to our next visit there !More

The new menu was needed and proved to be delicious with a couple of areas which could be improved. The oysters had pieces of shell and one was still attached, the presentation was also poor - looked as though everything had been put on the...plate in a hurry. The Elk tartare and foie gras were delicious and innovative - the smoked baby beets were knockout. The salmon special was again delicious with lovely crispy skin and a velvety lime and pepper sauce, the only poor items for me were the sprouts which were as close to raw as you can get - and I don’t like my vegetables over done!!More

Booking on line was an easy experience and Ryan even called the day of the dinner to confirm, which was nice, and we got the requested table. That being said, the difference between good and excellent lies in the details, and the details were lacking...with the new ownership. We did not expect white glove service, but you expect the basics...a simple paper placemat would have been appreciated to lay down my utensils. leaving them on the cold surface of the table that has been wiped down a million times with the same cloth is very unappealing and unhygienic. Menu arrives on a clipboard with curled, dirty edges...again all in the detail. In this day and age, printing out a sheet is quite easy...We started our meal with the home-made garlic and rosemary focaccia, which, by the way did not taste rosemary and in my onion, too much salt was sprinkled on top...and I am a salt person. the Salmon tartare was amazing, but no crushed pepper was ever offered even though I could see the mills sitting in the corner. Our mains arrived with a nice delay in between courses, which we enjoyed..did not feel rushed at all. My husband ordered the Quebec Duck Magret, he found the duck very tasty and a generous portion of meat was served, as for the sides, you do not serve smoked carrots, on a carrot purée (purée was cold, as well as the plate). The smoked carrots were lovely, but too much of them was an overkill...2 small pieces of mushrooms were found on the plate...I had the lobster pappardelle the pasta was undercooked and was expecting more taste from this dish. We shared the Carambola bar for desert, also delish, but we expected more...hardly no sponge toffee to be found. We chose not to have a Nespresso coffee..at this price point, a real espresso should be available.More

We loved the local sourcing philosophy and "bring your own wine" concept, the cozy atmosphere and friendly welcoming. My salmon tartare was amazing, and so were most appetizers ordered by the group. There is no doubt about the freshness and quality of the ingredients. However,...the three of us who took the gnocchi (Qc rabbit) main course were very disappointed; it didn't meet anyone's expectations in terms of taste and texture. At last, the service could improve. Despite a positive attitude, it lacked initiative and organization: we constantly had to ask for water and instruct where to put the plates. Considering all the positive reviews and the price tag, we were simply expecting more.More

Carambola has been booked for weeks, but frequently if you're one and there's a bar to sit at, you can walk in and score a seat. The dore and wild mushrooms was the best meal, this year anyway. It's a measure of a restaurant how...well the fish is cooked, and pickerel is a great Canadian fish. And their focacio was a perfect complement.More

teh food is exquisite and the service impecable, however for my taste the interior of the restaurant is too austere provides no ambiance to match the culinary experience

Cozy resto with a creative menu passionately prepared! Open kitchen where you can see the dishes prepared. Bring your own wine is also a perk.
