The place was very unrefined for the price of the food that was delivered . We were a party of 3 and all of our food that we got was extremely salty , the only thing I enjoyed was the octopuses . The cutlery was...worse than something you would find in a cafeteria . The service was with a smile, but they would not come to pick up the dishes once you had finished .. we sat with the dishes a good 30 min before they even thought about picking it up . When I made the reservation online , They had questions ,one of them was if it was a birthday , it was my sisters birthday , There was no acknowledge about it. We asked for deserts , I could not believe the what we got ! It was something straight from a supermarket and not the quality type. To sum it up Expensive for nothing . Never again .More

Had lunch there March 3, 2020. Must say we were very disappointed in the carrot soup. First of all the soup bowl was 1/3 full, a very meagre serving for the $10 price. The cumin taste was overwhelming and tasted as if it had just...been sprinkled into the soup. The server / owner said nothing and showed no sincere interest when he asked me if we liked everything. When he cleared our dishes he did not notice or comment on my unfinished potion. The hamburger, salad and homemade chip platter was very good but pricy at $20. Hudson will be a regular stop on our drives to Montreal. We are always looking for small, well prepared food for interesting lunch stops. Guess we will keep looking in Hudson.More

Being for few days around, we had a super nice dinner in Carambola. Local food, vegetables from the season arranged in a very creative way. It is a BYOB which allows to limit the bill. They even help you to find the best match with...the dishes. The oysters were amazingly fresh and the slow cooked veal was super delicious. I would recommend and come back at a next opportunity. Thanks for the nice evening!More

Hubby and I went to Carambola after hearing very good things about it and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, the service rapid and very friendly (thank you Kathy). We appreciate the bring your own wine option and the casual feeling about the...place. Already looking forward to our next visit there !More

The new menu was needed and proved to be delicious with a couple of areas which could be improved. The oysters had pieces of shell and one was still attached, the presentation was also poor - looked as though everything had been put on the...plate in a hurry. The Elk tartare and foie gras were delicious and innovative - the smoked baby beets were knockout. The salmon special was again delicious with lovely crispy skin and a velvety lime and pepper sauce, the only poor items for me were the sprouts which were as close to raw as you can get - and I don’t like my vegetables over done!!More

Booking on line was an easy experience and Ryan even called the day of the dinner to confirm, which was nice, and we got the requested table. That being said, the difference between good and excellent lies in the details, and the details were lacking...with the new ownership. We did not expect white glove service, but you expect the basics...a simple paper placemat would have been appreciated to lay down my utensils. leaving them on the cold surface of the table that has been wiped down a million times with the same cloth is very unappealing and unhygienic. Menu arrives on a clipboard with curled, dirty edges...again all in the detail. In this day and age, printing out a sheet is quite easy...We started our meal with the home-made garlic and rosemary focaccia, which, by the way did not taste rosemary and in my onion, too much salt was sprinkled on top...and I am a salt person. the Salmon tartare was amazing, but no crushed pepper was ever offered even though I could see the mills sitting in the corner. Our mains arrived with a nice delay in between courses, which we enjoyed..did not feel rushed at all. My husband ordered the Quebec Duck Magret, he found the duck very tasty and a generous portion of meat was served, as for the sides, you do not serve smoked carrots, on a carrot purée (purée was cold, as well as the plate). The smoked carrots were lovely, but too much of them was an overkill...2 small pieces of mushrooms were found on the plate...I had the lobster pappardelle the pasta was undercooked and was expecting more taste from this dish. We shared the Carambola bar for desert, also delish, but we expected more...hardly no sponge toffee to be found. We chose not to have a Nespresso coffee..at this price point, a real espresso should be available.More

We loved the local sourcing philosophy and "bring your own wine" concept, the cozy atmosphere and friendly welcoming. My salmon tartare was amazing, and so were most appetizers ordered by the group. There is no doubt about the freshness and quality of the ingredients. However,...the three of us who took the gnocchi (Qc rabbit) main course were very disappointed; it didn't meet anyone's expectations in terms of taste and texture. At last, the service could improve. Despite a positive attitude, it lacked initiative and organization: we constantly had to ask for water and instruct where to put the plates. Considering all the positive reviews and the price tag, we were simply expecting more.More

Carambola has been booked for weeks, but frequently if you're one and there's a bar to sit at, you can walk in and score a seat. The dore and wild mushrooms was the best meal, this year anyway. It's a measure of a restaurant how...well the fish is cooked, and pickerel is a great Canadian fish. And their focacio was a perfect complement.More

Cozy resto with a creative menu passionately prepared! Open kitchen where you can see the dishes prepared. Bring your own wine is also a perk.

A nice cozy spot in the centre of Hudson, easy to get to from Montreal and parking was easy. Menu selection is excellent and offers options for non-meat eaters. The table hote when we were there – a Halibut dish – was excellent! Prices for...the mains are fair and the portions are also fair. Perhaps a bit pricy on the sides, deserts and the “instant-Keurig-style” coffee. Having the bring your own wine option does of course make up for it. Service was great as our waitress took care of us with a great smile. Must admit that we were somewhat disappointed that the pork chop (one of the signature dishes) was not available at the first seating (i.e. 7:30 pm) considering it was a week-end (i.e.) Saturday. It would have also been nice to be greeted by, or at least have some presence, from the 2 owners as this is typically experienced in a local, upscale bistro-resto that prides itself in local, family ownership. Felt as if we “missed out” a bit by eating early instead of the 2nd seating later in the evening. Overall, a great spot.More

After seeing so many positive reviews I'm disappointed to say we did not have the same experience. We found the food lacking. Filet mignon was cooked perfectly but had no taste and the few roasted potatoes served with it and 3 pieces of broccoli didn't...cut it. My wife had the lobster pasta, again there was no flavor, it was boring. After reading all the reviews we were expecting so much more. The charcuterie plate to start was just ok and overpriced at 25$. The ladies said the desert was really good. However for 115$ to leave hungry... not sure if we will return. The couple we were dining with had the same opinion. Also our reservation was at 6 and only after we arrived we were told we only had 2 hours and had to be gone by 8 so hurry up and order. That should have been made clear when we booked. We left at 820 and there were several tables available. What was the rush?More

New ownership in 2019. The food is not quite as exciting and the atmosphere not quite as friendly. A somewhat pleasant experience was undermined by some attitude I detected when paying the bill and I tipped 15%, after taxes, on a $90 meal for 2....Probably not going back.More

We are very familiar with this great spot but we had not been back for quite some time since we moved away from the area. Since the last time we were here, new owners have taken over so we were very keen to try it...out again. Brothers Ryan and Reid Young are the enthusiastic partners. They took over from the previous owner who wanted to delve into something different but who wanted to leave the popular restaurant in reliable hands. Ryan had worked there before so he knew what was to be expected. He decided to move to the front of house and be Maitre'D and had his brother took over as Master Chef! The staff are also visible in the open concept kitchen and they follow the high standards that this place has been known for. My husband and I decided to share so we could sample four distinctive dishes for lunch. We started with a savoury Steak Tartare with Kettle Chips, Fried Calamari with a tangy Miso dressing on a bed of mixed greens, Spanish Octopus with Potatoes, Artichokes and Onions, and Scallops with Rizotto and Peas. We have never had such tender Octopus before! It literally melted in our mouths. We deemed this to be our favourite of the four but all were extremely delicious. Everything was done to perfection with textures being the strongest criteria and of course taste and presentation. I had to, of course, finish off with dessert! The Banana Cheesecake with Toasted Coconut, drizzled with Caramel and topped with white chocolate shavings was scrumptious! What a gastronomical afternoon delight!More
