Pizza seems to be a very different thing on Madeira compared to what you get in Italy. This was the first, but not the only place where we learned that. Too cheesy and a bit too German (more stuff on top of a pizza is...better for them ;-)).More

Ordered a margarita pizza (€7) & a pepperoni (€9.50) pizza to takeaway, waited about 20 minutes for them to be prepared. Both pizzas were very hot and fresh. Lacking in tomato sauce but cheese plentiful (if a little chewy!). Slightly overpriced for what we got....Staff very friendly and welcoming :)More
After a long day sightseeing we just wanted to retire and eat something simple. On the way to our apartment my eagle-eyed son had noticed 'Take-away Pizza'. Once refreshed we drove the 5 minutes to Restaurante Al Franco and ordered 4 pizzas. Less than 15...minutes and 2 glasses of 'Coral' later, 4 delicious pizzas were in their boxes ready to be transported home. More beers and lively conversation ensued as we all devoured the cheesy goodness...Yum Yum :-)More
Local restaurant with little/no tourist and great dishes. We ordered a bread soup and grilled cod. The portion was too big for me however my boyfriend managed to eat everything. We complemented the lunch with a "green" vine. Great choice. Not so fancy place but...far away from the crowds.More
