We've eaten here several times in the past couple of weeks. The best restaurant in Panicale. Great for lunch and dinner.

My friend had this on his lists of restaurants to go to when we were staying in Umbria? he saw it featured on "I'll have what Phil's having". One of the best meals we had in Italy! We went for lunch. It's located in the piazza of panic ale! a small town in the Umbria region. The food was fresh,... More

The owners of Bar Gallo are so welcoming and kind! Everyone gathers there for coffee in the morning and wine in the evening. Lunch and dinner are also good. Try the soups... they're amazing!

Probably the best bar inItaly, definitely the best bar in Umbria. Really friendly and welcoming owners,Aldo and Daniella. Good food, friendly atmosphere in a beautiful place.Truly international, lots of nationalities at this bar. So if your Italian is not so good, there are lots of people about that can probably assist with translation.

Aldo and family run the most inviting cafe in town. Go there once and they remember your name, and your order. We'd go there for morning coffee and then return for a delicious dinner and wine. The soup is incredible and so was the lasagna. We can't wait to get back.

We're staying nearby and have eaten here twice. The owner and waitress are all very accommodating. I've had their vegetable soup twice. Very tasty. Good view of this tiny village. Each time they've brought out a little something extra...bruschetta with salmon or a tiny bit of pita, cheese and prosciutto. Nice place to stop.

Aldo and his family serve up the warmest friendship and lovely light food and drink, with tables pouring out into the plaza centrale when the weather allows. It is THE meet place in Panicale. If you want to feel part of the village, this is where it happens.

I have previously commented on Bar Gallo for drinks and people watching. This time I am commenting on the light meals served by Aldo, Dani and staff - the lasagne is very good but our favourite was the Gran Bruschette Misti. This mixed plate was always delicious, fresh and different. We loved them once we discovered them!

Aldo is wonderful. Bar Gallo offers great food, drink, cafes and the atmosphere in the Piazza is great. A definitely must in Panicale. The Pomodoro Bruschetta and Porchetta Torta are personal favorites. Enjoy!

Good service and great location. We only ate a snack here (bruschetta between us both but that was no trouble to the staff.

Description
The original Panicale bar, frequented by a colourful mix of agricultural workers, a few local artists and most US, British and German expats who come to meet their friends and talk to the locals and wouldn’t drink anywhere else.

Bar Gallo, run by Aldo and Daniela Gallo, is modern and clean inside, with a large room at the back with a view of Lake Trasimeno for when the weather turns inclement. In summer people are outside at the tables in the picturesque old square.

Here you can eat simple meals for when the formal Italian dining experience is too much: focaccia with ham or cheese, salads, single pasta dishes, bruschette, panini. Or you can have a drink or an ice cream and just talk.

The staff are welcoming and mostly speak English.
