Magical atmosphere Beautiful decoration and feels like home service Hotel owner treated us like old friends. Breakfast was delicious and wide choices of food. In hotel restaurant run separately look strange but worth every penny chef Christoph lost in his own world but food served is out of this world. Highly recommend

We've stayed at this place five or six years ago, and much as the hotel itself was quite easy to forget, we did enjoy the breakfast so we have decided to come back for a breakfast while shopping in town a couple of days ago, and we are very glad we did. It is simple, basic, but very tasty and well prepared breakfast. Do not expect Full English, this is France, but you will certainly get well prepared coffee, outstanding pastry, and fresh juice, and that is what you need. The service is quite relaxed but surprisingly fast, and we shall certainly be back for a quick breakfast next time we are in the town for early morning shopping.

A lot of work done on refurbishing the Hotel de Milan since last year. The apartments/rooms are very well kitted: plugs have direct Apple lead plug-ins. Good, constant hot water. Located at the centre of Bourg: the cycling hit of the Alpe D'Huez area. A great base for the Tour. The centre of the cycling world in July. Friendly, attentive staff from a family-run hotel which retains the classic elements of provincial France mixed with he modern expectations of travellers in this part of the world.

The hOtel de Milan sits as the centre point in the cycling rich town of Bourg D'Oisans, the centre, for many, of the cycling universe. The food is well prepared and served by helpful, kind staff who care for about the hotel and care for the customer. As complete strangers we could not have been better looked after: nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was in the traditional French style; a well stocked self-service buffet with generous and unending supplies of coffee provided. You can eat while taking in the art nouveau, regional character of the building, sense the history and enjoy watching the present world go about their plans and reviews. A wonderful place to stay and to eat.

Good location and art decor but horribly maintained. Stayed here a few years ago and called in this year to see if it had improved, no. Shame as it has potential, but also understand its regional France...

Ate here 3 times during a weeks cycling with a group of friends. You feel like this is authentic France here, good food and genuine service. No one had a any complaints during the week, couldn't fault any of the food or wine. They do very good pizza's here, but if your looking for fast food / burgers exclusively then try elsewhere.... ! Would definitely return when next in Bourg....

After a long journey we were pleased to sit on the terrace of this restaurant & enjoy a mix of pizza, pasta & steaks between us. Good location with a nice atmosphere & the standard menu. Got to say that most restaurants in the area supplied a variation of the standard pizza, pasta, steak menu at quite high prices so we ended up cooking in a lot of the time during our stay. As for vegetarian food best bring your own paneer & halloumi as you'll struggle to find a new meal after a day or so.

We were late arriving (due to travel delays) and joined our friends for lunch, whose order was well ahead of ours. The waiting time was very long as the place was, quite rightly, mobbed. However, they let us sneak off and get a baguette from the nearby boulangerie and didn't mind us eating it with our friends. However, they were happy with their food. Shame we missed out but the staff could not have been more sympathetic or acccommodating.

Let me begin by telling you that I am not a regular restaurant-reviewer. This is my first review. I am not planning on writing many more. The only reason for writing this review is to prevent future guests and cyclists of having the same incredibly bad experience as we did. Hotel de Milan is a beautiful old and vintage/withered hotel and brasserie (the e in “brasserie” is missing on the outside wall of the hotel) located in the center of Bourg d’Oisans in the French Alpes. On the bicycle you can reach the foot of l’Alpe d’Huez in 5 minutes. Our group of 20 cyclists was pleasantly surprised that we were able to reserve a table at noon for that same evening, Other restaurants were fully booked. At 8 pm we arrived for our dinner. The ambiance in the restaurant is great. All of the 7 or 8 tables in the room were filled. Our 3 tables were neatly set near the large windows looking out over the small center of Bourg. So far so good. Soon we became a little bit worried when we noticed all service was being done by one woman taking the orders and bringing plates to the table one by one. We heared the table next to us had been waiting 2,5 hours for their food. This was gonna be a long sit. Although we were hungry, we were not in a hurry and decided to wait. While we were not that bothered waiting, it would have been good to have a steady supply of drinks coming to the table. Sadly, the only waitress was too busy serving other tables and bringing in plates of food one-by-one that we were only able to buy one round of drinks while we were waiting, Not the best business-model in my humble opinion. The food… First up on the tables were plates of salad, they were fine, although quite expensive for what we were getting; 14 euro per plate. Second up: the first 3 hamburgers, they looked and tasted fine! The fries were tasty and crunchy. The mayonaise was ordered but did not arrive. The pasta’s were edible but nasty. The last six of us were watching everybody eat and still waiting for our meals. The hamburgers on the other plates looked edible. There were still 5 hamburgers to come. We were negatively surprised when we found out they made us a new creation! The waitress brought us 5 buns filled with a blob of cold and dry minced meat, covered by a potatoe-rosty. The cold minced meat was minced and rather cold. Absolutely inedible. We had been waiting for too long and our appetites had disappeared. We decided to go and pay for the dinner we did eat, No client is king in Hotel de Milan. One of the women working in the restaurant kept trying to convonce me she cut the cold and dry minced meat herself that morning with a knife. There was no discount. Only angry faces telling us we had to pay or they would call the police. We did pay them. Hotel de Milan is an old and withered hotel/brasserie that does not have the man-power, skill and service it needs to serve a hungry cyclist-mob. If you are in the neighborhoor and if you are a big hungry cyclist-mob, or even if you just want to have a nice meal, please stay clear of Hotel de Milan. Rating 1 star out of 5.

A hotel combining the comfort of today and the charm of the 30s and 40s. The architecture is superb; the woodwork, the frames, the floors, the ceilings are superb. The 1st floor rooms with balconies are wonderful. The swimming pool is very good for relaxing after hiking or cycling. What's more, the boss is very friendly.
