A beautiful address, on a charming square, with a very nice terrace.
The team is very friendly, the service a bit long, but the terrace was full.
Meals, fries, Chimay burger and Chimay salad on top.
Too bad for dessert, a chasm served barely hot with cold chocolate in Belgium...
However I would return with pleasure, ending with an ice cream 😉.
Reasonable rates for quality.

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but once inside it wasn't too bad. Don't expect culinary delights, just a well-filled plate for a fair price.
Very friendly service. I wanted to try Chimay's specialty 'escaveche a l'anguille'. The waiter had given me correct information about the dish that I did not know. He himself indicated that it is super tasty, but cold fish and with a specific vinegar taste that you have to be prepared for. His honesty was appreciated.
So I had a delicious hamburger with mushroom sauce. Just simple and delicious.

We wanted to eat something nice on the terrace after a w-e full of adventures
If you know what I mean
We ate well and the renovated terrace in the center of chimay is really idyllic tourist just right
We see that the city puts small dishes in the big
Small negative the reduction of pizza choices but I imagine in favor of quality
Pasta could also be more hearty
But on the whole. Very good time

Reservations for 20 on the terrace for 3 weeks, arrived well in time our table was given because other people insisted, here we are upstairs in 30 degrees (35 inside). Icy welcome and uncourteous response when we point out that we booked well in advance for the terrace...
The order is taken 20 minutes later, 1/3 of the menu is not available... 2 hours of waiting (true) so we are offered Kind regards, 2nd aperitif (paid of course)... we finally eat, that's all except terrible but it's not bad in general, we kindly ask the boss for a little drink from the house for the 10 adults following the wait and the 700 euros addition... we're blown away, and saying that more than 3.5 hours in his establishment, 2 hours of waiting to eat, no terrace, menu not very extensive,... it's not very cool, a little gesture and we don't talk about it anymore, he tells us teasingly "well yes sir, it's is the crisis for everyone" by showing the terrace filled with tourists (an establishment filled with tourists all afternoon to eat or drink). Well done JF! We won't come back again

The Grand Café dominates the Grand Place near the church. We arrived early (six o'clock) and there was plenty of room on the terrace. We ordered a steak tartare and I chose the Americain variant. It was served with fries and lettuce. We had a nice dinner.

Top operator, top service. Despite the service by job students, everything went perfectly. These take their student jobs very seriously and do well. The service even goes to great lengths to do it in Dutch. Pizza and pasta super tasty! Pizza Grand Café is highly recommended! And large portions with reasonable prices.

Unfortunately there was no place outside, so we got inside. which was a little less comfortable. They have a surprising menu including suprising pizzas. I had the Indiana, which had a little lot of curry, but it was OK. The waiter tried to talk dutch, which I appreciate.

We went with the intention of finding a little local culture and it exceeded expectation.
Outdoor dining on a sunny evening, surrounded with a mix of modern and old architecture that work well together, locals talking, laughing and enjoying themselves and taking their time to talk to us.
The staff were extremely patient with our lack of French.
The food, was perfect, and some of the best I’ve ever experienced, only a shame I was driving and couldn’t experience the famous beer!

Just eaten here - ordered two salads and frites. Salad Nicoise bore no resemblance to any that we had eaten before. The salad with lardons would have been better named salad dressing with accompanying leaves and fat. The dressing totally overpowered any other ingredient : paid out of politeness - but stick with pizza or burgers would be my advice.

Why they call this place the Grand Cafe is a bit of a mystery - a narrow, modern room without any charm or interest. But a good place for a drink and something to eat after visiting the fine nearby Chateau and a pleasant enough place to sit. I enjoyed my draught Jupiler and frites. I imagine that in nice weather (it wasn't when I visited), they have outside seating on the attractive pedestrian Grand Place.

We nipped in for some grub. Food was very tasty. No grumbles there at all.
There seemed to only be one person working upstairs. It was carnage with people being served food as they were taking their coats off after ordering while waiting for a table. Try as we might we couldn't get a bill. Sat there for 30 minutes and we're then told to go downstairs.
Anyway, good tasty food for a very reasonable price.

Open air al frescos style. A great little lady served us on both visits and was a attentive. Nice surroundings but spoilt a little bit by the youths going past on the motor bikes. Food was good, wine a fair price.

We waited 20 minutes for our lunch order to be taken. We ordered a plate of charcuterie and chips and a cold trout in a sauce with chips (small portion). The sauce was quite strange and a mediocre accompaniment for the trout. I was also very disappointed to find, when I studied the bill later, that we had been overcharged by 2 euro for the trout.
