We initially went for the cellar tour. It was mid week end of tourist season. Any of these tours help if you speak Spanish. All the signs are in Spanish. this cellar wound around up and down. The restaurant had some tasty snacks too numerous to list. The wines were great. I had the house wine. Vino de casa. the... More

We visited Aranda de Duero in late October while visiting several of the excellent wineries in Ribera del Duero region. El Lagar de Isilla was highly recommended by so many local people we knew we must try it. The recommendations were right on target. We arrived at the restaurant at about 10pm on a Thursday night and found the bar... More

It is a bit out of the way, but if you are doing the wine tasting route in Ribera del Duero, it will be perfect to stop here for lunch. You get a free tour of its amazing underground cellar afterwards. The place is frequently full, with plenty of local patrons, so make sure you book in advance. Food is... More

We had dinner at this restaurant in the old town of Aranda de Duero. To begin with you get the yummy bread called torta de Aranda. We ordered boletus mushrooms and morcilla de Burgos for starters. Both were excellent. As a main course we had the typical dish of the region called lechazo, which is basically oven cooked baby lamb.... More

I walked in here, after 10 days of Culinary Extravaganza starting in Lisbon and ending in Madrid. This was recommended by the hotel. Turned out to be the best meal of the trip. The town is quite pretty too! There were 4 of us and qe stand unanimous! Chicos! Tremenda comida, tremendos postres, tremendo lugar y tremendo servicio y Tremenda... More

Went here after a wine tour for a nice lunch. Tapas were all fresh and excellent, and we tried quite a variety (calamari, croquettes, some kind of stuffed pepper). Main dish I got cod and mashed potatoes and it was a huge portion and very delicious. Others got the roast lamb, a specialty which I tried and was very tender... More

On a recent family trip in Ribera del Duero, we went back to El Lagar. The Lechazo is a roasted lamb that did not make its 21 st day birthday, and is so succulent, delicate, the crispy skin is so delicious with some local wine. Our server, Juan José was helpful and charming. We had a sensation time and lunch.

Tried a couple of their own wines, and had a selection of tapas. Varied customers, mainly Spanish, many seeming to be regulars. Didn't have the time to have a full meal but we looked at the clay oven/barbeque grill area, and were intrigued to see people visiting the cellars underneath the restaurant.

This was the first restaurant we went to on our trip and it was a great first impression on the food we would be savoring in the region. We had the traditional meat on the asador, which is a hot iron pan that is put on the table and you grill the meat yourself with salt flakes. Very tender and... More

We had a really great lunch at this restaurant. I have never seen my husband so entralled with a foie gras dish - and he has had many, it was amazing. Actually, everything was amazing - the food, wine, service, ambiance. Don't miss the cellar - it was so cool - 70 steps into the bowels of the caves with... More
