Staying in Albarracin, came across this bar/restaurant just down from the Plaza Mayor, we had the menu del dia for euro14 which was excellent value and a well prepared three course meal typical of the area. Drinks were included and the red wine was very...drinkable, barman very friendly, would go again. They are also open in the evening from 8pm but the place is small so might be worth booking.More
We went looking for a Trip Advisor recommended restaurant but couldn't find it. Rather than carry on looking we decided to give this place a try. What a mistake.
The four of us were crammed onto a barely adequate table and sat on hard seats...with bolt-upright backs. This in itself is okay as long as the food is good. It wasn't. Bread came and we asked for alioli to go with it; no luck there so asked for butter. It was rancid. We all wanted something light and opted for merluza (hake) with salad. The menu stated two fillets but we were served only one, skinny fillet each. As it happens, one was more than enough. It was dry and quite inedible. The "salad" consisted of tomato and lettuce. Fresh enough but with all the imagination of a caravan park. We didn't feel like chancing a dessert and came away still hungry.
The waitress was surly and the plates thrust in front of us in take-it-or-leave it manner. When it came to clearing away, leftover food from the first plate was piled on top of the next in front of my face. I wasn't impressed.
When it came to pay they presented us with a bill that included items we hadn't had. We then stood around for a further five minutes while they sorted it out.
Sometimes one can wander into an untried restaurant and be pleasantly surprised. On this occasion we were unpleasantly surprised.More
Found this restaurant quite by chance in Calle Azagra just a stones throw from the Plaza Mayor. Run by the husband and wife owners they were very attentive. Food was fairly basic but it was tasty and fresh. The evening 3 course meal was only...10€ excl drinks. However their wine list was very competatively priced.More
we found this place by chance. Everything else shut on 14th April. We has the a la carte. Reasonably priced. Fair simple Spanish food. Views amazing. We had rabbit marinaded and roasted and Marinaded Deer. A family owned place - very friendly and relaxed
