We were a group of 10 and left it late to book. However we were accommodated with no issues. Bryan the landlord was very welcoming. We all had various Sunday roasts. Superb food, the gravy was something else, everything cooked to perfection. This was nicely...More

Best meal of our holiday. Congenial, friendly host and restaurant quality food at pub prices. Ale is very well kept. We had homemade pizza, sticky soy pork ribs, and peppered duck breast on vanilla mash. Even better than it sounds. Perfect end to our holiday.

Called in early evening for tea, as some reviews state don’t be put off by the car park, daily specials available along with good choice on standard menu. Good choice of wines and beers too.

Really glad you enjoyed your meal and thank you for your review. The refurb starts in a couple of months so there will be huge improvements inside and out but it will be a long term project.

My brother and I were walking the Avon Valley Path from Salisbury to Christchurch last week (more of a thrashing than a walk with how overgrown it has become in the summer months) and the Augustus John was the perfect overnight stop off in the...More

We booked for Sunday lunch the previous day as it is my experience they attract a lot of custom on Sunday. It was unusually quiet but I guess that was due to the gorgeous weather making a BBQ in the garden an attractive idea &...More
