Was greeted by the owner on arrival for lunch which included alpaca, beef, chichen, potatoes, vegetables, and dessert. The restaurant was clean and accommodating. A nice tour stop.

We stopped for lunch as a group and this place really did not disappoint. It serves local food prepared in a way of the best grandma’s tradition. Every single thing we tried was high quality, made from fresh ingredients and really tasty. I did 3...rounds for avocado salad with marinated onions, 2 runs for their chicken. The silverware and plates were all squeaky clean (something you might want in the Peruvian countryside). Again, thank you for your hospitality.More

This restaurant is obviously catered to tourists. The buffet style food is good and fresh. Juanita, the chef doesn't cook too much at once so the food is fresh. It is a good stop during the long travel time. Make sure you try the chicken...soup.More

Th Alpaca Chef is a modern , airy and bright restaurant with clear views across to volcanoes. We we were a group of fifteen or so and a buffet had been prepared - lots of choice , lots of potato dishes. I enjoyed the soup..., the bread and my icecream. Juanita is very passionate about what she does - good luck to her and her team.More

While our tour bus was returning from a visit to the Colca Canyon back to our hotel in Colca Valley, we made a stop at the Alpaca Chef restaurant for lunch. The Alpaca Chef is a very nice restaurant that is spacious, clean and good...Peruvian style food that was served buffet style for our tour group. The buffet selections were displayed on long tables that extended from one wall and around a corner to another wall - so there was a good variety of different food items to select from. The restaurant is located in the Colca Valley area so the surrounding area is very scenic, and the Alpaca Chef restaurant has large glass windows all around to give patrons good views of the Valley no matter where you sit in the restaurant. The Alpaca Chef is an excellent buffet lunch restaurant when traveling through the Colca Valley area.More

Based on reviews, we went with high expectations. It’s far above a typical tourist bus buffet although we felt the food could have been a little better (we live in Peru, and know the cuisine well). They charge s/40 an adult and s/25 for children...(including our 3yo who ears very little) so it’s tourist prices for sure. We made a reservation but were late, and they waited for us. They let us know we were their last guests so the food left was for us. It was about 1:45pm, and all the food seemed to have been prepared by 11am based on freshness. Some things like aji de gallina are fine sitting, but the French fries in the alpaca saltado were soggy, and we were told there were no more. There were highlights and lowlights, but the advantage of a buffet is you can try various foods. The potatoes and cheese were fishy which was strange! The pesto noodles (Peruvian fideos verdes) were good. The fideos a la huaicaina needed salt (easily remedied). There are about 5 main dishes and then several accompanying starches and a few veggies. None of the latter were good except white rice. Main dishes were hit and miss on flavor, but enough good things to get a filling. Not the amazing cuisine experience we expected based on reviews. Fruit would be a nice addition. The main priority for the restaurant should be to improve the food taste or consistency (if we were there on an off day or time of day). We dealt with one attentive waiter as the rest of the staff was cleaning in the kitchen, and we had the place to ourselves. The chirimoya ice cream was a highlight. The restaurant is clean, not crowded, with nice bathrooms and convenient location. Those features alone make it worth adding to a Colca itinerary, but there is a lot of room for them to improve as well.More

Our tour group (Gate 1) stopped at Alpaca Chef on the way back from Colca Canyon. The restaurant itself is beautiful and you are treated scenic views of Pre-Incan terraces as you eat. The food was outstanding, particularly the corn soup, alpaca, and lomo saltado....You can tell that all of the ingredients are fresh and that the food is prepared with love. Señora Juanita is a beautiful person and takes an immense amount of pride in the food that she makes. I honestly felt like I was being welcomed into her home and that I was a part of her family. Thank you Señora Juanita for a truly wonderful experience!More

We were there for a Lunch Buffet. Wide variety of Peruvian traditional food. The Alpaca meat tasted for the first time - was more tender version of Beef. Loved the Green(cilantro) rice with chicken.More

"You gotta eat here". We stopped here for lunch on our bus tour in through the Colca Canyon. Mamma Juanita, the owner, cooks everything from scratch. Personally I recommend if you are looking for a light lunch try the corn soup and with delicious bread.
