Super fine food, made in front of me. The chef thought of everything, from utensils to smell to taste, and attitude. Certainly the most memorable dinner ever have in all the world. Part of the experience is to keep some things a surprise. Great food and fun and not to be missed by foodies enjoying Tokyo.

Worth the effort to get in. You can only book through your hotel concierge from 2 months prior, then sign a 5 page contract of no perfumes, no noise, cancellation fees etcetera and provide a photograph of the front and back of your credit card. The meal was exquisite and service seemless. The ladies restroom was equipped in a manner... More

Wow this place does some really excellent Contemporary Japanese cuisine. They do a really good interpretation of Kaiseki cuisine. We enjoyed a Omakase Tasting Menu which was very satisfying. Had a really good atmosphere.

The restaurant is in a residential/commercial area but when you enter it is as if you were transported to a rural setting. Simple but perfectly executed menu. Hope they can offer two sets so that couples like us can order two different menus.

I visited Ryugin on Sep 10 after dining at their HK establishment on Aug 27. My dinner at Ryugin HK was excellent and I had been wondering how the experience would be like at the it's main restaurant in Roppingi. My dinner at Ryugin Roppingi was exquisite and I was extremely impressed by the refinement of top ingredients, superb cooking... More

Yes, it is fusion in some ways but the tastes are basically Japanese: subtle as yet full of umami. I have tried many good Japanese restaurants in Tokyo and I have not tried such a good grilled wild sea eels. The entrance is unimposing , but we were there for food, we were very happy.

My husband and I enjoyed many excellent meals during our recent trip to Japan and Ryugin was the best of all and highly deserving of all its accolades. Located in a charming house on a quiet back street in bustling Rappongi, our taxi driver had trouble locating it even though we supplied a map, and just left us on the... More

This is one of the best meals I've ever had in Japan, and perhaps the world. The food, service, and decor is first class. The food was all made with the best ingredients, cooked perfectly, most attentive service, and thoughtful design/decor at the restaurant. There is no ordering required, as all they have is Kaiseki.

The restaurant actually was more relaxed than expected. After reading some reviews and also receiving a quite long instruction from the restaurant (dont wear perfume, restrain from using flash when taking photos of the food etc), it was nice arriving early and see that the table was ready (we were 1 hour early). Very friendly and courteous atmosphere. One our... More

Have to book this restaurant by my hotel concierge. The food and service is very fine, they speak good English to explain what you are eating too.

Description
We are a small Japanese restaurant on a corner of Roppongi and openned our restaurant on December 23, 2003.

To prepare Japanese cuisine and present the amazing ingredients of Japan to customers daily is sharing the spirit of "Wa (harmony)" with many people and convey the richness of the whole of Japan, and provide a space to admire a moment of a delicious banquet together.

The dinner and the preparer resonate with each other through the food and recognize the preciousness of the richness of Japan...
To be able to convey this everyday with pride to people might be akin to doing our important "national duty" for Japan.

As a Japanese cuisine chef with this sense of a self imposed mission I felt during my training, I opened this small Japanese restaurant on December 23, which is a special day in Japan with the feeling of raising the flag of Japan.

The origin of our name "RyuGin" comes from the words of "Zen", and is derived from "龍吟雲起(RyuGin-Unki)".
During my training, I came across a book of “Zen” and within it, a hidden meaning of "龍吟雲起(RyuGin-Unki)"...

"When a heroic person makes a decision and takes action, his comrades will mutually resonate and gather there..."

That lesson moved my heart, and made me decide on the name of my restaurant.

Neighbourhood Profile
Akasaka / Roppongi
Not so long ago the Akasaka and Roppongi areas were famous for their nightlife, high-class restaurants, bars and clubs. More recently, with the opening of Roppongi Hills, Tokyo Midtown and Akasaka Sacas, the area has declared itself as the most fashionable spot to be seen. The area also hosts the National Art Center and the Mori Art Museum and lots of trendy art galleries.
