M. Asakura runs a genuine French boulangerie. Whatever baked goods you crave, sweet or savory, you'll find them here, as enjoyable as on your last visit to France. The staff is friendly and welcoming. It was great fun exchanging pleasantries in French with the owner. We stayed in lodgings just a few minutes walk away. It was so nice to... More

An excellent little neighbourhood boulangerie. For about ¥500 I had a far better breakfast than my hotel offered for ¥2400. Nowhere to eat in so either sit on a bench or take back to your hotel room. Well worth a visit if staying at the Shinagawa Prince or around that area (about 15 minutes' walk away). Combine with a visit... More

Almost hidden next to Takanawa Fire Department, Seiji Asakura boulangerie is one of the best in Tokyo for baguette. Croissants are great also if you chose the ones which are less cooked.

Staying in Shinagawa / Gotanda

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.
