Great food, unique Japanese countryside BBQ service, very reasonable prices and a fun atmosphere. I never miss a chance to dine at Musashi whenever I am in Tokyo

Been to Japan about 10 times and this was a first experience. The chef sits in the middle surrounded by hot coals and cooking utensils. On the other side are the patrons facing him. Reminds me of a priest and people praying to him. He hands out the food on long wooden spoons to reach the patrons over the coals.... More

This place is different from other local izakaya places. A single BBQ chef sits in front of customers with great pride and serves BBQ food with a long stick. It is amusing to see chef's move as he looks very serious like a Japanese Samurai. And photos are not allowed here. They would think it would distract chef's serious performance.... More

Went here on a Friday night for dinner. Firstly no photos are allowed and also if you want to sit at the grill, you have to order drinks (specifically alcoholic I believe). The staff were responsive and helped when we asked for an English menu but was not the most friendly bunch (quite rare in Japan). Food wise it was... More

Excellent food, fast service, jovial atmosphere and the central exhaust fan takes care of the smoke where you can not smell tabacco at all unlike most Japanese restaurants. I am defitely going back this trip for at least 2 more dinners.

I was taken here by a friend who lives in Tokyo. Shimbashi is a very local area, frequented by salarymen. The area is great to explore for culinary and bar hopping fun. So many little streets to wander through. This particular restaurant specializes in Robatayaki (which I believe translates to open grilling of food). Lots of selection of great food,... More

Strong not recommend to go. I and my friends wen there for the last dinner in Japan. When the waitress came to order the drink, we said that only wanted water, but she said no water, we were surprised that no water in a restaurant. And then she explained that we must order drinks and informing the manager that we... More

Strongly not recommend to go. I and my friends went there had the last dinner in Japan. Following the comments of TripAdvisor we went on Sunday to this place: really difficult to find and it was closed! It is in a dead-end alley right in front of the main entrance of the Shimbashi station (there is an old train in the square) and no english name is at the door. On Monday we tried again with some... Generally this type of cuisine is expensive. Since this is in the "salaryman campus" of Shimbashi it is great value. It is a local place full of local people and they have an English menu to make life easier. If you speak a little Japanese it's even easier. Quality of food is good but if you are used to Inakaya... Staying in Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi

Neighbourhood Profile
Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi
Odaiba is an entertainment hotspot with a giant ferris wheel, concert halls, amusement arcades and lots of shopping. It also boasts Oedo-onsen-monogatari, a hotspring that recreates old Edo-era ambiance and is very popular with foreign visitors. Shiodome has ultra-modern office buildings where you can often find restaurants with a great high-rise view of Tokyo. The neighboring area of Shinbashi is a district of much older commercial buildings and it's a great place to join 'salary men' enjoying a drink and snacks at street stalls under the railway bridges after work.
