The restaurant was dirty and the interior is totally out dated. The fishes are in really small cages inside the pool and instead of actually fishing them people just swing around with the rods and hook the animals from their sides or fins. The food was poor quality and the atmosphere wasn't great. I wouldn't recommend this to other tourists.

Food was average but great location and friendly service. However, atmosphere not as good compared to the Osaka Namba branch which had more excitement feel to the dinner. It just doesn't have fun feel at this branch. At both Osaka Namba and Shinjuku branch, we ordered the same style of cooking (fried) for the fish we caught and was surprised... More

Read about this place on facebook and thought we'd give it a try. Nice place with its own fishing area, which got my son all excited. Menu prices are reasonable, but drink prices are a little steep. Fishing experience was alright, those with no fishing experience may find it hard to hook a fish. You get quite a few choices... More

Zauo Fishing Restaurant had appeared in many tourism shows before, that's why I think of give it a try. But the restaurant ambience is quite disappointing. Since the big boat decorative is the main attraction of the restaurant, they still have plenty of seats behind the private room dining and blocked the view. The space is so confine and makes... Really enjoyable night out with the family. We had a private room which was extra fun with kids. Guaranteed to catch a fish.

Overall it's a fun evening out. Having done it once you I probably wouldn't do it again but it's a really cool thing to do. There was no confusion over pricing or how the system worked. The staff were friendly and helpful. They have a smile system where you can give a smile card to an employee that is particularly... More

We had a great time here - caught three items (flounder, sea bream and top shell) . Made the evening quirky and fun - something that Japan has oodles of. Unlike other reviews we didn't have any issues with the price of fish - only lobster and top shell were price per kg the fish were same price for each... More

The concept is nice, but we fished a mackerel and they charged us 3800 yens for a médium sized fish, which was announced at 900 on the price list. The girl said it was a special fish not on The list, come on...and the shashimis was bad cutted + service is poor

It is a must do experience when in japan. The experience starts from the very pretty restaurant and helpful staff, passing by the fun of getting your own fish and the celebrations when you get it. And then the most amazing part of the experience eating the freshest sushi and sashimi from a fish you just caught. Indescribable feeling. Also... More

Catching the fish is fun, celebrating with the chef and waiter and then having it cooked as you wish - a very entertaining and fun night!

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
