Please be aware that going by the photographs posted many people have reviewed this lovely restaurant under the name " Kurumaya " and rightly so as the name is not " Kurumaya Bejan". We ( including our son's Japanese friend)were looking for a place to have dinner outside the East exit of Shinjuku station. The building is elegant looking. The... More

My family consisting of 4 adults and 2 children visited this restaurant in Shinjuku and the result was great. The menus were easy to follow and the staff were absolutely fantastic. Ensure that you make a booking as the seats at the cooking counter are limited but well worth the effort. The menu covers all tastes as does the drink... More

The menu prices range from 4,000-11,500 yen for the set meals. It was a fun way to eat and the food quality seemed good, but it was not my favorite restaurant in Shinjuku, but definitely a solid choice. All food is prepared before you so you can see the care that goes into it.

Great teppanyaki restaurant with the layout set up in a hexagon with the chefs in the middle. The food is prepared before your eyes. The courses are plain but excellent, with high class ingredients. One of my kids celebrated her 19th birthday, and was awarded à special gift from the staff. They have an english menu and english-speaking (well...) staff... More

Visited here for dinner. This is a traditional Japanese restaurant with high quality food. I had a dish where they install a little burner at the table and you cook the food yourself. I had the pork, it was a little fatty for my taste but was excellent. Desert was also fine. Interesting and enjoyable experience with friendly staff and... More

Food and service was excellent. Staff were really nice. Provided an English menu. Would recommend the seafood although if you order the steak, the chef will flambé the steak and the staff will take a group photo of your party as he does it. Brilliant and delicious.

I had a wonderful meal here which was nearly spoiled by some incredibly rude behaviour by tourists who arrived halfway through my meal. The highly professional staff were incredibly kind and endlessly patient and the food was some of the best I had in Japan. Highly recommend!

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
