I have chanko nabe on a number of occasions. My wife and I had the 2000 yen lunch special with a number of side dishes making this a kaiseki. A great deal.

If you’re wanting an unpleasant experience with segregated eating, please choose Tomoegata. I speak decent Japanese, so I was mistaken to be a national. I was swiftly told to go to the second floor, where I was greeted and led to a table. I was...More

Chankonabe is the quintessential Japanese winter meal. Delicious, comforting, super healthy, and an eating experience even the pickiest foodie would love. And Chanko Tomoegata, a ten minute walk from Ryogoku Station, does it spectacularly well. Started decades ago by a former top sumo wrestler this...More

Set lunch for about 1200 yen. Although it is a small portion compared to actual sumo portion, but gives you an idea of their diet. Menu available in English. Excellent service.

I must say it was a most pleasant experience eating at this restaurant. We thought we'd better be early and at 1115, we were the fourth family there. First impressions was the requirement to put our shoes in locker which has large wooden keys. Though...More

If you go slightly earlier- 11ish, you need not book. The place doesn't fill up till past 1130. Cheers!
