Small portions and high prices. Food not that tasty. Had to order sides in order to fill up your plate. Was told that if I wanted coffee it would take 15 minutes so didn't bother. Many tables cleared but not wiped. Had to go home and eat more to fill up. I am not a particularly big eater. Bathrooms freezing.

My wife and I called in for lunch on the way to Edinburgh and we were not disappointed. My wife had a vegetable quiche and I had fish cakes which were perfectly cooked, served hot and well presented. An excellent meal, good value and we were well looked after by the friendly staff.

Visited the Whitmuir with family as we had always seen it and wanted to give it a try and it did not disappoint! We were greeted with lovely atmosphere and service - and even more lovely cakes and selection of coffees! I'll certainly be able to find the time to come back to The Whitmuir soon.

Popped in here for a bite to eat and then went on a walk afterwards. Recent previous reviews of the food being mediocre and prices high put me off somewhat but I think these were harsh and taking these reviews into account I found that it was actually ok in terms of quality and price. We had soup and a... More

Cafe nearly empty, so couldn't understand why no-one acknowledged my existence for 15 minutes! Order taken, and requests ignored. If this was just a one off you'd be inclined to let things go, but it wasn't. Ended up leaving. Absolutely loved this place...not anymore. Won't put myself through it again - I kept hoping things would improve. Seemed that folk... More

I know the coffee is fantastic here (and I'm sure is the best in the Borders!) but I usually don't get the opportunity to stop for lunch. Today was the exception and I was very impressed with the quality of the food....everything freshly prepared, good-sized portions and utterly delicious. I had the lentil & cashew loaf w/tomato chutney which came... More

We visited this place mostly to shop but they have some lovely walks for children. The fairy walk was great and loved seeing the pigs, my children were too small to do any longer walks. There is a great range in the shop with loads of fresh fruit and veg and also meats. The cafe is lovely with a good... More

I've passed this place many times wishing I had time to go in for a meal. When I finally did it was a bit of a disaster. The service was pleasant and very apologetic but there were clearly big issues in the kitchen. Two simple meals mainly comprising of pre-made salads finally arrived after nearly an hour. It really wasn't... More
